Courtesy Between M3 Owners. What's up with all the hate?

I get the "hate" we get from others, but between BMW E9x M3 owners?

Back in the day, BMW owners used to flash each other and it was understood. It was rare to see other BMW owners.......

Today, I pull up beside another MW E92M3 in my Black E93M3 and give him a thumb up. He flips me off and takes off.....WTF?

Do we need to be like this to each other?

This is even evident between BMW owners that have older Model Year BMW's. They look at you like, "what? you think you're better than us non-M3 owners?" I get this all the time when filling up.....

Before you think that it's me, this was never a case when driving my other +15 non-M BMW's over the years.....

I haven't seen it from E9x M3 owners. Maybe he was having a bad day?

I've seen this from E46 M3 owners, but very rarely, and not usually the finger, just a kind of "yours is not a real M3" attitude.

Just wait until the F80 comes out. Will we be the same way?

Having recently acquired my M3 (6months ago), I do notice other M3s and give them a good 'once over' to see if I like the look. I hardly notice other BMWs unless it's a sporty model (Z3,4). BMW's goal is to sell the most cars in the world and considering that 25% of the cars on my block are BMWs, they just might be achieving that. BMWs are getting as ubiquitous as Toyotas or GMs so I'm noticing them less.

i've never been flipped off, but have noticed a general cold shoulder. There's no brotherhood with M car ownership in comparison to Evo or STi ownership.

Z4M guys don't wave at me, E46 guys think they're better than me, then when I'm washing my car on front of my house a Space Gray owner peel out on front of me showing off

okay, I'm just kidding about the last 2 parts (space gray peeling and E46), but seriously, no waves, no hellos. A few times I've gotten flashes or waves, but like 5 times in the last 2 years of ownership.

IMO, this M3 generation is less about performance than for showing off how much money was spent for it. Too many nouveau riche have E9x M3 thus this behavior.

Miami is full of these guys.

Yes, I said it.

I get regular bmw's passing me hella quick on the freeway and slow to normal speeds once they do. I see a couple e9x m3's in alameda, they either ignore or just look at me...

I see this as not lack of courtesy between M3 owners no matter what model. This is simply a problem with lack of courtesy in general in our culture.

I miss the enthusiast comradery. Not sure where it went off to. When the GTR first came out I gave him a thumbs up and he responded by nearly running me off the road swerving in front of me to get on to the exit ramp. Thankfully I have a ninja like response time.

For some reason I get the most love from Porsche owners and confused looks from ford/gm owners. I think we all know the look, how does a BMW sound that good?

Had a GT2 with a stock midpipe...I couldn't imagine how your set up sounds.

Lotta looks here - no waves from the stock M3's always get waves from the modded ones.

Must be all the riff raff

Seriously though, I'm not sure what some of you are expecting (in terms of waves, thumbs up, etc.). I really never look at or attempt to interact with other drivers (unless it is to provide them with my own, uh, negative feedback). To me, it seems too likely any gestures could be misinterpreted, plus I'd rather spend time looking at the road, other traffic, etc., than paying attention to other drivers, regardless of what car they are driving.

I get thumbs up most of the time from BMW and different vehicles. OP just laugh it off, some people are just plain miserable.
