If some of these cars have extended warranty, it adds some value, but you'll have to assess this yourself based on the remaining mileage and warranty info. Extended warranty costs around $5000 (i think, please obtain your own quotes from a dealer), but most of these CPO cars already had their "warranty punched" and are already on the clock within it's first year of extension. My recommendation is buying a low mileage car (30k miles or below) with the balance of original warranty, and buy extended warranty afterwards to capture maximum time and miles of coverage. (or not buy extended at all) All this can be done in the $46k-$49k, if you're a savvy negoitator. At the end of the day, it all depends on how long you want to keep your car, and how deep your pockets are today and in the future to buy and maintain (or fix) the car. Buying a preowned car is a smart financial move, (assuming you can afford the car to begin with), but you still shouldn't overpay. I bought mine in 2010 (i'm on page 1 of this thread), and my car has only depreciated 15% since then. Not bad. Just my thought.

Have you guys noticed prices dropping hard the last few months, especially January?
I've seen some nice 09's in the mid 30's, and 08's in the low 30s and even one at 29k. Is it the new models dropping them? |

Where are u seeing such low prices? On all the car buying sites, 08s are still in the low 40s with average miles

I checked again, and the ones near $30k did have above average miles - but I found a few 08's with less than 50k around $35, and likewise some 09's in that same area depending on miles.
But they definitely dropped, I've been watching them since last year - and they seem to have dropped a little more than the average depreciation. |

I don't believe there will be any impact from the next generation M3/M4 until it is released. As the general public, we have only been exposed to the concept and picture of the engine. Let's see what the production version looks like and how it performs. Also as critical will be the price range.
I wouldn't be surprised if there are a few M3's available at a great price simply due to the owner being in a situation that forces the sale (of the car). |

When purchased: Dec '12
Year and Model: 08 e92 M3 SG/Fox Red/Carbon Miles: 29,000 Options: Loaded Transmission: DCT Price paid: 39,900 Was hunting 09's and 10's in the mid-upper 40k's range, came across this one, was absolutely mint in the exact colors/options/trans that I wanted. Helped that is was at my favorite dealer that has been taking care of my other M for years. |

Who buys cars straight up on an ask quote? I mean, I know some cars are like that, but we're not in year 1 of buying an R8 or GTR or something like that. Even the buyers of new M3's are paying below MSRP right now.

![]() There are cheaper cars on here for sure, but $57 for a heavily optioned 2012 is a great deal. Well done Sir! |

Thanks! Bought it from a Chevy dealership in Central Texas, wonderful folks but somewhat in the dark on what it really was. Epic! A serviceman bought it in Germany 3/12 at a steep military discount and traded it along with an M5 for a 60th anniversary Z06. A much crisper feel than the CPO 08 e92 with 50k miles I traded in, not to mention the iDrive improvements!
