KW sleeve over kit & E92 M3
I seriously considering my first serious mod as my five-year ownership approaches on Nov 27. I am thinking of installing KW sleeve over kit to get rid of the floatiness of the car. I've had Eibach sports springs on my E46 M3 and I was extremely happy.
I want some consensus from the forum member what will best complement the EDC on the E92? I am planning to keep my car for a foreseeable future and would like to hear your experience. I know there are numerous threads on this matter and plenty written. But experience is something you gain over a period and would like to hear what your thoughts are ... regrets putting on KW S/o over Eibachs etc. Please take into consideration this is primarily my DD and might see the track may be once a year during BMW club events. I've had them on for about a year and generally like them. They're not going to address the floatiness you describe, but a good set of dampers will.
I went with this kit for the adjustability and the ability to retain EDC and it's a good thing that I did, because mine sagged quite a bit since the first week I had them on. At least you have the ability to adjust the ride height back up with these instead of just dealing with whatever ride height a standard spring alone would give you. Plus you'll have a somewhat tuned and shortened bump stop to go along with the KW kit. The ride is nice and very comparable to stock (...maybe 10% stiffer than OE). |

The KW kit is nice for what you get and is comfortable enough with EDC for DD duty. I would highly suggest you include E36 bumpstops and the MRF shaved upper support guides.
I went this route instead of the expensive coilovers as I wanted to 1) retain some of the warranty I still have and 2) would rather not drop $3k on coilovers just yet. Once the EDC shocks give out, the its JRZ time ![]() The ability to also adjust height and corner weight was a big factor in my decision as well.

Guys, thank you for your input. I am surprised that I got only two responses when there are a lot more KW s/o installed on this forum.
I think the kit come with the E36 bump stops. What's the benefit of the shaved support guide and where can I get them? Can someone enlighten me please?

I would probably pass. I am one of many with full coilovers that just dont like the drop this kit offers. Certain springs give you the same look, drop, and feel. Why not go that route? Either way you will again have that front gap.

That's what I am thinking. I saw a fellow Australian forum member's car with H&R springs. The drop and the aggressive stance with his aftermarket wheels look astonishing. My dilemma is getting a spring set that will complement the EDC that's not too harsh for a DD. I am looking at around 10% stiffer than OEM with a not too lowered stance. I am very much concerned about the longevity of the OEM dampers which will be compromised at some stage with non-oem springs.

I have this kit on my M3 and for the money it's really good. Just enough lowering available, you can keep the EDC working but every setting stiffens by 10/20%... Yes I have previously owned other coilovers on my other BMW's like PSS9 and KW V3.
Make sure you do the little trick te get some more negative camber up front. ![]() |

I don't see the reason for the KW Sleeve kit either. Unless you plan on making adjustments on them, they are a waste. Pickup a good set of springs and call it a day!

The performance purpose of the ride height adjustments is mainly to adjust the cross weights of the car. Which is kind of pointless if you are keeping the EDC shocks because you have likely not done much weight removal.

You should look into the new Swift Spec R springs. They have linear spring rates and do not lower the car that much to maintain shock travel and maintain the ride and shock life.
The KW Sleeve Over kit comes with its own shortened bumpstops so no E36 bumpstops are needed. |
