New to VA
Hi folks. I just arrived to the Virginia area (Centreville) and was wondering if anyone had any preference with a specific dealership. Also, does anyone have any recomendations for a body shop? I had the euro plates in Korea and will need some holes filled in on my front bumper.
Hope to see my fellow enthusiasts around in this area. |

Welcome! BMW of Fairfax and BMW of Sterling are closest to you. They both have their issues but I still much prefer Sterling. I still haven't found any bodyshops in area I'd recommend. I've used D&V autobody and Royal, both in Sterling. Both are fine, but kinda pricey.
When in warms up, go to the cars and coffee event (every saturday morning in Great Falls, VA @ Katie's coffee house) sometime. |

Agree if you are looking for an indy shop RRT is awesome. They have an incredible shop with lots of brand new high tech equipment. Again, on the pricey end there too, but you will feel very comfortable leaving your car there.

Cool thanks for the info. The Fairfax dealership is really close by but I'll swing by the Sterling dealership. Haven't been back in the states in almost 8 years so have to get used to driving here again. Got to slow down or I'm going to end up in jail :/

I go to BMW of Fairfax and have been since 2009. Not only is it convenient for me since it's close by, they also have a really good M technician there and he's the only one I allow to work on my car.
At the end of the day, everyone has their dealership horror stories, so do your research and ask around. Do a search on this forum or e90post and you'll find threads on local dealership and SA recommendations.

RRT also has reasonable rates for maintenance tasks. I was quoted $65 for an oil change if I bring in my oil and filter. which is cheaper than the dealer labor.

I've heard a lot of bad things about BMW of Fairfax. Countless stories, varying degree of damage.
I've had great experiences with Sterling and Alexandria... really happy with Alexandria.

Another vote for RRT. I'm out of warranty now and don't go anywhere else. I fully trust the work they do at that shop, unfortunately I can't say the same for the dealer.

Welcome to the area. Dealership wise if your looking for a mod friendly tech let me know and I can hook you up at Sterling. Independent shops RRT is great like everybody has said, Funktion Auto.
If you plan on DIY there is a shop in Sterling where you can join for $22 a month and have access to rent lifts and everything.

whoa, can you give me this info? I'm interested. Do you know roughly how much it costs to rent lifts?

Welcome! I’m just down the street from you. I’m in Gainesville. As for dealerships, I take my car to Sterling. I never had any issues there. Unfortunately I cannot say the same for Fairfax |
