How do people honestly have no clue about the FICA reduction for 2011-2012? It was a 2% present for two years. No taxes went up. FICA just went back where it used to be. My wife and I just viewed that as $4000+ of extra money each year.

If the OP can lower the interest rate with no hidden fees attached, he should do it. That is common sense.

If $200/month is breaking your checkbook, you need to get a different car because you surely do not have six months of rainy day liquid cash sitting around for an emergency like losing your job. I would never even notice $200/month.

My opinion is if you are going to keep the car I would refi because even though
you're making a lesser payment now, that baloon payment at the end is
waiting for you to deal with it. So I would add to my current payment rather
than paying it later.

Just like leasing a car to buy it later does not make any sense financially.

I think the 4.2% tax was during the end of the Bush era. That was like 4 or 5 years ago.
I remember before the tax decrease everyone would get a $300-$700 IRS check at the beginning of the year.
But they toke it away to give us lower tax rates. I wonder will they bring it back.
I too remember that and am confident to say that will never happen again.
