e46 m3 rear-view mirror Q - fluid in auto dimming mirror??

Just noticed this on the car, it just happened suddenly. What is this and how do I fix it? If I have to replace it to fix it, about how much $ would that cost?

It's like the top 20% is not auto dimming anymore, and there is a fluid line in the middle.

You have to replace the mirror to repair it. They an be expensive, so you may look around for an oem mirror to replace it with that's lightly used and in good condition. I think they're around $500, but check with your local dealer to verify that.

Had the same thing on an Acura but it was under warranty. It cannot be fixed. It has to be replaced. Better do it soon as well. I had that fluid drip out onto the console.

Get in touch with Sybesmas Electronics. My rear view mirror leaked over my console and ate away some of the finish, nasty stuff in there. They do refurbished mirrors for about $90.00, had mine done by them and it's like brand new. Send them yours.

Yup. I've been meaning to do this. There's also another one. Something like radarsystems.com.

Common issue on E46s, there are many OE replacement ones or other aftermarket with radar detectors and so forth. You can even replace it with the homelink mirrors from the newer BMWs.
