Eibach lowering springs for M3 e93 with EDC...

Hey guys, I think its time to lower my car now...been on my mind for ages!

I want to go with the eibach springs...however i gave EDC and all the springs for the e93 M3 dont mention EDC and all have the same product code...So the question is - does it work with both non EDC and EDC cars?

Eibach Part Number: E10-20-014-18-22

Any help appreciated

would of thoughts they do as the EDC is just oem adjustable damper and not the spring .

I installed the Eibach lower springs on my E60 M5 with edc without any probs if that any help to you

Works fine, I fitted mine myself and have EDC and as above done the same with my E60 M5 as well.

Before you go ahead and remove all the suspension travel and bugger up the handling, pls read the various technical threads on the US suspension site section.

Dunno why you think that ?
I can assure you the handling is just fine running eibachs, they lower the car around the same as the BMW performance springs do so are you saying that BMW have buggered up the handling as well?
I have read the thread you are referring to as well and still stick by the fact the eibachs are fine.

TBH the above is a pretty silly comment IMO.

Correct about the M3 Edition springs being 10mm lower than standard but the EDC on Edition cars has also been updated to suit. Dont know the effects of running these springs on non Edition EDC.

Thanks guys...If i lower it will be eibach....but i still dont know if for the e93 its only one type available for both EDC and non EDC?

The EDC Eibachs and non EDC Eibachs are the same.

E93 uses different springs to the E92, but are still the same on EDC and non EDC versions

Which M3 springs are you refering to? Eibachs lower the front by 20mm and therefore double the drop of the Edition models.

The purpose of the springs is to hold the car up at the required ride height, allow sufficient movement above and below this point, resisting excessive body roll and allow the wheels to follow the road surface. Spring travel is thus a very important part and the if there is not enough travel, the spring bottoms out. Effectively that corner of the car ceases to have suspension.
If this happened when cornering or braking hard it could be very dangerous.

The M3 front suspension has 0.5" of travel before hitting the bump stop. The bump stop has been dyno'd and acts progressively over the first 1" of compression. It's resistance then shoots up at which point it is not acting like a spring.

The front M3 springs are rated at 160lbs, meaning it takes 160lbs of force to compress the spring by one inch. With two adults in the car you are already eating into the available spring travel.

So with the Eibachs you are already riding on the bump stops, yes the springs are stiffer by ~22% but only at the maximum compression (as they are progressive) and this will potentially create a worse handling car.

I want to lower for looks but can't help but think that I will ruin the comfort and forcing the dampers to work harder than they need to and that surely BMW knows what they doing after all the time they took in researching.

+1, there's simply no escaping that the car's dampers will wear out faster with aftermarket springs of any kind. Eibachs being the least intrusive of the bunch due to its more conservative drop.

Also, keep in mind the car's dynamics change slightly with springs that inherently "rake" the car forward to compensate for the front fender gap. This could be avoided with a sleeve kit from KW or GC.

I've been trolling through many threads / forums on the Competition pack and some say it's 10mm lower springs, and some say its' the same spring and confirmed by the dealer that they are the same springs? and only the mounts or some other parts that lower it?

Also is it possible to code it the new EDC functions with the '07 cars?

Ie. is it possible to install the springs / or whatever part that has to lower the car and not mess up the shocks?

fit the springs and changed the bumpstop to a E36 one as it higher to compensate

No I have the spring sitting in garage , as my car is still relatively new (only 13k miles on the clock ), I am waiting till when i need to change , then have them fitted along with the E36 bumpstop.

that is what most members do when fitting ebach spring as the suspension travel will be minimise by the lower springs

ps ...spring do not effect the EDC, so no need to code the car
