I'm 27 and all of my vehicles with the exception of 2 SUVS have been manual transmission cars. Born and raised in the DC Metro area and all of it's traffic and wouldn't change it for the world.

28 years old, first car was a g35 6mt, then 335i 6mt, now m3 6mt, whatever i get next, its gonna be a manual, I wont buy a car if its not available with a manual trans, all the new automated clutch boxes are getting a ton a hype but i dont care, if your car can shift itself its an auto, I dont care how you argue it, I dont really care how fast or perfect the M-DCT or DSGs can shift, I dont drive to get paid, I drive to enjoy the car. If you truly want to enjoy that Mini the way its intended get the manual.

I think it will. Now i am leaning towards automatic. I have been driving manual since 18 and for me it's second nature. However, this thread alone puts things in prespective in terms of how not all manual cars are same and people will have issues. Automatic is easy answer.

3 car house with all manual cars. Taught both my daughters how to drive on 6sp cars, when they hit 16 years old.

I think most all here know how to drive manual cars on this forum, but some choose to go the DCT route.

i first learned how to drive a manual 4 years ago when i was 17 in my best friends 09 civic si! then i got my own 2 years later, a 2011 infiniti g37. that car was the hardest manual transmission ive ever driven, the clutch and trans in that car sucked huge balls... haha but after that i got in a 2003 honda s2k, now my 2012 bmw m3. i still think the honda s2k has the best tranny by far...

Test drive a Porsche. The tranny in those cars are the best I have ever felt.

YES. IMO if one is a true enthusiast, love modding and track, one should know how, even if it's not their first choice of transmission. Not sure how that help your decision but good luck.

LOL before i bought the m3, i went to my local porsche dealer to test drive a cayman s in manual, but they didnt have any, so i just left... same with my m3, i went to my local bmw dealer to see if they have the m3 in manual that i can test drive, but they only had dct... but i still ordered 6mt!

Yea the M3 manual is nice, but after testing the manual on the Porsche Cayman S I knew what car I wanted!

i am Porsche Fanatic but the s2000 tranny is the best i have driven ever (including many exotics i have driven). Hands down, feet down as well.

I learnt how to drive on a manual and then for years didn't until my first E30 in 2010, Have had 3 so far.
Just got a Mini Cooper S, auto tho, got a great deal. Let me know if I can help get you one.

I prefer manual, .... that said, if it's going to be a loaner car, it's got to be an automatic. I think it's harder to cause harm to an automatic, plus if you even have a couple of clients that can't drive manual, it's worth it to have the auto.
