This is a car that has more power and torque (even in base form) and weighs WAY less than an M3. From a pure performance perspective, there is little to compare even with the C6 but with the interior improvements and, without a doubt, performance improvements the C7 is in a completely different league.

Now, if you need a back seat, trunk and a more commuter friendly car, the M3 is hard to beat.

Sorry for the confusion. What I meant was that the corvette should not be compared to the european marques. It's in a league of its own.

It is more likely that the C7 performance is nipping at the heels of the C6 Z06, I am sure a C6 Grand Sport will be no match for the Stingray.

The problem with Corvettes, that I hope they've eliminated with the C7, is dealing with tire roar, terrible Chevy service departments, fit & finish issues (shrinking carpet, squeaky seats, etc) and cabin heat soak. But the worst thing about my 2008 Z06 was the fact that it was an incredibly fast car that just didn't feel like it was incredibly fast. Steering feel was numb, gearing was so long that you didn't get that kick-in-the-pants feel. And then there is the Corvette stigma - no matter how much you don't care, it still becomes an issue now and then.

The C7 is obviously a huge step forward from the C6, but they need to make the driver feel more connected to the car as I do in my GT-R. If they can fix that problem, and they can give me a turbo V8 for the next Z06 for under $80k, I'll consider selling the Nissan.

doubt the turbo v8 is gonna happen. some things are still sacred hopefully. big v8s, rear wheel drive and threesomes.

Are you nuts?!?!? The Z06 didnt feel fast and you didnt get that kick in the pants? Did you drive it or park it? I had an 07 Z06 and it sure as hell felt fast and was a mule kick in the pants. And about your GTR. How the hell do you feel more connected to a lifeless car? Its been criticized over and over again as being a robot on the street. I guess different strokes for different folks

Negative...a base C6 Vette with the LS3 is no better than an E92 M3 on the track. Ask me how I know. I've owned both and there is not a dimes worth of difference in general performance until you go to a Z06/Zr1. As a matter of fact, a novice in an M3 will most likely kick the ass of a novice in the non Z06/ZR1 C6....Vettes are not easy to drive on the track.

I had an invitation to the Manhattan debut of the C7 Thursday night. It was very well received. I got to sit in it and the seats were very good and the interior is a pleasant place to be.

They had a few classic Corvettes on display including the oldest Corvette, a 1953 prototype that was built for the GM Motorama show at the Waldorf Astoria 60 years ago.

that is an interesting side by side. the mouth, the headlights, the hood vent double bubble roof all look similar.

News flash – they are selling VIN 0001 of the new Corvette this evening at Barrett Jackson auction on Speed. Presumably for charity. They’ve got it there....

The GTR has good steering feel and road feel, but is called robot like by some journalists because of its point and shoot tendency and its ease to drive fast. Whereas the Z06 will kick its back end with just a stare and hard to drive fast, while the steering and road feel isn't as good.

I'm a former c5 z06 owner. I was going to preorder but now I dont know. Looks like I'll have the e92 a bit longer. I hope it just photographs badly, because in pics I'm not sold.

I think the turn signals, in the headlight assembly, are compliments of Ferrari 458 Italia too

The rear looks like a Camaro fucked a TransAm. Other than that it looks good, but I still have a very sour taste in my mouth from GM products.
