Battery replaced.

My car was at the dealer for five days! Turned out the battery was bad.
Service advisor originally thought it was a bad module.
Oh well, at least it was covered under warranty. I did lose my frickin Ipod at the dealership. So I guess it did cost me about $200.

And 5 days just because of a battery? Thinking it was a module? Hmmmm...easy to test to figure out the answer. 5 days seems very long.

I lost it. I think I left it in the customer waiting area. Anyway, that was my fault.

I dropped the car off on Thursday afternoon. They didn't test it till the next day.
It sat at the dealership over the weekend. On Monday they call and tell me they don't have the battery in stock. Battery arrives on Tuesday but they still have to register it.

And did you have any slow-down on the clock leading up to failure?

Been seeing alot of battery issues is there any way to test it to see if it's going bad or do just have to wait till it craps out. I'm not to familiar with these things.

yea most are 08 and 09's they usually last at least 4 years... its time to change. mine did last almost 5 years it will be five on April...

ordered a battery for my 08 already... been seeing the battery indicator for a week now... and my clock is behind 5 minutes and getting worst...

This was my deal as well. Have an 08 and clock started to fall behind. Then if I wanted to listen to radio I would get the low voltage indicator.

lol funny thing is, i stopped listening to my radio for a week now.. i get the same thing.. i have my navi screen turned off as well...

my radio is my iphone 5... until i get it replaced then im back to normal... just need time to get an off day to replace my battery and register...

Slow clock at first.

Then weekly had the " Increased battery discharge" warning. Reset time and date.

I then started getting it daily. I also had a burnt out daytime running light so I took it in.

not sure if it will help me out or not but i always have my car hooked up to a battery tender when its in the garage since i dont drive it much. hoping that will preserve the battery life some. if it fails i was gonna go with the mini battery to save 25lbs.

I'm doing the same thing and have been told by a number of individuals that it won't hurt and may help. Which battery tender do you have?

mine is one i had from my motorcycle days. charges slower but doesnt really matter as it has lots of time.

Just a quick recommendation on charger - I've used the Genius G1100 on my bike and it works like a charm. Looks like the G3500 may be best for a car or truck application if charging, not just maintaining is required.

Use a multi-meter and check the amperage. can also do this with the alternator to insure you don't have an alternator failure.

If you don't have a multi-meter, advanced autoparts, autozone and the likes usually do this for free.

It can't hurt. I think I killed the battery in my e46 M because I would let it sit during the winter for several days without a charger. That was a different story. When that battery died I bought a Duralast from Autozone and changed it in their parking lot.

Once I got to the point of losing time on my clock - my battery was just about toast. Exactly 4 years. If you lugged the engine when engaging 1st gear, the fan would cut out to preserve energy. Also got the car-on-a-lift icon. All that wigged me out enough that I went over and got a battery from BMW that I thought I would install myself. However, the 900 CCA batteries that most of our M3s need are big and the hold down bracket doesn't have an extention on it - so good luck trying to get it all back together. (there is not enough room beside the battery and the well it sits in to reach in and seat the hold down screw with your fingers - you need magnetic sockets to address easily). So I just didn't drive the car for a couple days until I could have the dealer deal with the install/registration.

How much did you replace it for? I am getting quotes of 400-600 at dealers and about 350 at an indy shop. should i go oem or interstate battery?
