I'm signed up for three days at COTA Feb 1-3...
I'm bringing several sets of race pads for my bbk as well as several sets of tires/wheels. Hired a pro driver to coach me as well ![]() |

I was so bummed out when Driver's Edge locked this down to solo-qualified and Advanced run group (is that just Red or Yellow + Red?) At my last TWS CCW event my instructor asked whether I'd like to work on moving up to Yellow or going solo and I picked Yellow. I got cleared for Yellow on TWS CCW but I'm not solo yet -- and CotA isn't allowing spectators so I can't even go there and catch rides! ![]() Oh well, I guess it's at least happening at all after their initial blanket refusal.

PM me your full name and email address and I can add you onto the guest list for Driver's Edge...no problem. You can come and hang out. Did you call Rick? I'd x2 check that. Not sure, but I didn't think there was such a distinction between being yellow and being solo when I made the jump from blue to yellow. In yellow, don't you run at least half of the sessions solo? I think brakes will take a beating from T12 coming off the back straight all the way to T19. I don't think there's another stretch of track in Texas that will beat them up that bad. TWS, I'm topping out at about 135-140mph but I'm only coming down to about 100mph either direction while in the braking zones. And then you're carrying a lot of speed through the next couple of corners so your brakes can cool and recover. COTA, I'm guessing I'll top out at similar speeds but I guess I have to bring the car down to about 40mph-50mph. So you're on it for harder and longer (that's what she said). Then you've got a bunch of slower, tighter turns. I would think that you'll keep building heat in the brakes until you get through T20...or until your dust boot on your calipers catch fire. I started this weekend on 2 day old PF01s which were 11mm thick and I vaporized them in 7.5 sessions. And this was at MSR Cresson 3.1. ![]()

Those boots aren't too hard to replace. I think you just pry them out and pop them back in. At least that's what I had to do to clear some debris out of one of my calipers...long story...used kit. But I don't think you have to completely disconnect the caliper or open up the lines.

^ thanks! I'll order a rebuild kit...
One of the calipers is weeping fluid from one of the cylinders which is not good - I think it may be because the cylinders are overextended - pads are gone and worn down to the backing and the rotors are worn too... |

I had an issue where stuff blocked the passage for the fluid. I took the caliper off and opened a bleed valve on one side and then used compressed air through the bleeder valve to pop the piston and seal out. Careful because it doesn't take much pressure to shoot the piston out. Repeated on the other side. Cleaned it all up and I just put the piston back in and pressed the seal it with my fingers. It was pretty easy.

Is that an M5 Brembo front caliper?
Hope you guys have run at COTA, I'll have to wait until the June event.

So how many spots are there in total? Will we even see Tier 2 or 3?

Plenty of space in novice and advanced. I'm pretty sure some will be dropped down a class due to lack of DE experience.
