Not trying to put OP down but if you own an expensive performance car wouldnt you do a little research before trying to add any old oil? The manual is your best friend.

If you put non synthetic oil in, if it was my car I would perform an oil change with the right oil without a doubt.

On a side note I would be more cautious too in he future and not blindly add 1 full liter when the light comes on. Generally, half a liter will be enough. You can always add more if needed but it's more difficult to take out when overfilled...

My low oil light just came on 2 days ago. Added half a liter and now the reading is between the halfway mark and top of the indicator.

If put non-synthetic in my M3, I wouldn't be able to sleep until I got the oil changed.

I've been using synthetics since about 1975 (Amsoils was one of the first auto syns). I have consistently read over the years that the two types of oil in question are compatible ie they won't form some sort of damaging emulsion or toxic brew. Ideally not the best situation but I have done it with other vehicles for various reasons and I haven't seen any ill effects. Maybe we have a chemical engineer amongst us who can comment.

It is actually too bad that someone can't ask a reasonable question on the premier M3 forum, especially someone relatively new and from a part of the world that we don't often hear from, and not get the abuse that has been shown here. I am not above poking fun, but c'mon guys...Flame suit on.

I kind of knew what the OP meant when he said mineral oil. But a good ribbing never killed anyone.

So I shouldn't be using the enclosed OIL in my S65?

OP, sorry I couldn't help myself. As everyone has said, you should be fine but if it were me, I would change my oil and filter to get it right.

Good Luck!

Synth oil last longer, the polymer holds up a lot better in high temp.
It is no big deal unless you are tracking the car.

I dont use the car on the track. It is my daily driver. Ok, so it is going to cost about USD450 to change oil. Expensive mistake!!!

Will I have problems if I dont change the oil?

Don't listen to all of these OCDs who can't sleep because their car cover is not on, the lug nuts aren't polished, and 11% of their engine oil is not spec.

It will be just fine until the next oil change.
