Help me stop the rubbing...

Car is finally off the road for the winter, and I am addressing a few minor issues that I've been experiencing.

In the spring I put on some 19x10" ZHP Replicas +25 offset all around, with 265's on all 4 corners. I am running a 5mm spacer in the front, and 12mm spacer in the rear. It looks great, but apparently the fit isn't perfect.

Lately I have been noticing some rubbing in the front, especially on slow speed turns and when parking. Not positive it is the fender liners or a suspension component but I want it to stop. Any ideas what it is hitting?

1. Do I need a bigger spacer up front to get a little more clearance?
2. Are my tires too wide for the front?
3. Any other suggestions as to how to rectify?


I'd love to hear from someone running a similar sized setup and see what they are doing to make it work. I'm thinking an 8-10mm spacer should solve the problem, but want to be sure. Planning on lowering the car soon, and don't want any issues.

A 265/35-19 tire is too tall for the front. You should move to either a 245/35-19 (stock/correct O.D.) or a 255/35-19 to avoid fender liner contact when turning.

While I appreciate that, there are plenty of people running 265's up front without issues.

I want to be able to rotate front to back as well, which is why I went with a square setup to begin with.

usually up front with a 19" that wide with a 265 or 275 width tire, the sidewall size is 30.

Yep, sidewall is too tall. 265/30 or 255/35.

edit: Even then, my 255/35 rub a tiny bit on the fender liners. As soon as the tires wear down a bit, it stops.

Tuner1 had it right..running a 265-35-19 up front and on a 10" wheel to boot is too much..people are generally running a 265-30-19 upfront

Try removing the front spacers. The tire/wheel will swing out less. And remove the rear spacers as well. Why go square if you're going to undo it with spacers.

You didn't mention which/size of 265 tire you are running. If its a 265/35/19 there is only one person that I know that pulled this off and that was Malek. Everyone else that runs this size that I know rubs, not from width but from height.

You need to go as others have said to a 265/30/19 or a 255/35/19. Can't be much if at all over 26" tall.

Spacers won't solve the rubbing problem in the front if you are rubbing on the liner when turning. As stated above, your problem is due to the overall diameter of the front tire.

Ok, good to know. The person I bought these from is also a vendor on these forums, and claimed they weren't rubbing at all.

I might have to step down to a 255 then up front.

That doesn't really make sense. They are rubbing on the inside, so bringing them closer to the fender liner wont help.

Part of the purpose of my going square is to be able to rotate front to back. Spacers give it a good look, and a little extra track width.

So everyone is pretty certain that it is contacting the upper inside fender liner? I just wanted to make sure it wasn't hitting anything serious.

So putting springs on will likely only make the problem worse...

Why don't you turn the wheel to full lock and look for yourself to see what it is contacting??? None of us absolutely know for certain what is happening while sitting behind our computers. I'm confused why you don't look for yourself . I know I am sounding a little rude but it doesn't hurt to do a little investigating.... I know that most 265/35/19, some 255/35/19, and some 275/30/19 tires rub on the liner at full lock. I know this based on my personal experience and research I have done on this forum. Having your tire rub the liner at full lock is not a big deal IMO.

I don't think lowering springs will impact the rubbing you are having at full lock. Springs may introduce some rubbing in a new location when impacting large dips in the road. I do know at least one person who ran your wheel / tire sizing with H&R springs. He added negative camber to the front suspension to make it work.
