Why did you buy a 2013?

Based on recent posts, just curious to know whether folks got a 2013 to eventually reach a 2016 M4/M3 and/or went from a 2008-09 and decided they wanted the best version of the E92 M3 to keep. OR came from another marque altogether.

Naturally there are other reasons out there, but these simply show how many people just love the heck out of this car

Edit: Dammit, I wanted to let people choose multiple options. Oh well.

Easy, OEM 240 stock software, Competition Package option. Sure the 11 and 12 are certainly close, but they don't have 240E software stock. I think maybe some 2012s do, but you get the idea. Lastly, the fact that these cars (all else being equal), will keep the highest value if taken care of well.

My 08 has 240E software. Not sure coming with it stock makes it the best version. I think the best version is an E90

There isn't an option for this but I looked into trading my 08 in for a 13 and couldn't justify it. But I'm not really worried about apps, bluetooth audio, and things like that.

Fair deal bro, to each is his own. Only reason I say it's the best version is because it comes with all those things stock from the factory and will hold the highest value later. This is how collectors would see it. Competition package like it or not will count.

E90 is certainly awesome and in retrospect I should of included it in the multiple choice. But similarly with the E90, the last version of that car (2011?) would be the best version due to the way it will hold value later for collectors. 08 with IDRIVE CCC and without updated gadgetry is not an equal car in resale value to the 09-11 models.

I doubt these will be collector items but I love my E90.

2013 or not the value will decrease by the day .

What does the 240E software bring? I got it and didn't notice a single thing different with the performance/drivability of the vehicle.

I got a 2013 because I've always wanted an M3 and up until I actually got it couldn't make it work financially. If i could have afforded it sooner I would have got it. Simple as that.

Bunch of people said the very same things about the E46's...... They are now pretty much very dated and the only one that really counts is the CSL.

Only few special edition E9x might be a future collectibles and couple of the individual ones may be. That is if people manage to leave them stock and don't mess with them too much.

Last year production usually is more desirable for sure.....

Relative to year, I don't believe there is any measurable correlation between 'last of year' models and others.

ZCP is not unique to 2013.

Will a '13 have higher resale than a '09? Of course, it is a newer car. But a four year old '13 will trade at the same price point as a four year old '09, ceteris paribus.

IMHO of course.
