Here's a ESS-550+Meth (Black M3) vs ESS-600 (Space Grey) -- I'm aware this is before the software/tune revision

Think you'll be surprised that there wasn't a significant performance difference between the two cars until ~120 when the 600 started to pull. There's another video taken from the ESS-550, but because of the BB intro I don't wanna get re-banned for posting it here

Benzy that video proves nothing at all....LM had a smaller pulley on there with meth so that should bring his kit up to the performance of an intercooled 600kit....the 600kit probably only had about 25 more hp, and given the fact that he was on 20inch wheels and HFC as opposed to fully catless like LM I would assume the race would have ended up just like it did.

A real 535 kit vs an real 600 kit would be much different not only up top but down low as well. The best a 535 kit trapped at atco was 125, and the best a 625 trapped at atco was myself at 132 and some. There is a huge difference.

You make it sound like EVERY M3 owner is on the forums. The video also shows from 30-40 secs that an ESS kit is installed (poor lighting, but it's easily identifiable by the blower bracket).

If you want to dispute anything, it's whether this was actually a 625 kit and/or producing the 570 RWHP.

It's not like the M3 walked the Camaro (M3s basically at the Camaro's trunk) & it's more than likely if they really would out the 2 cars, the M3 would eventually take the lead.
There are a few matte blues on this forum... def. sure as hell wasnt me lol.

lmao

...It's simply 1 of 3 things....
a) The M3's WHP numbers are off and theres something depriving the car's potential performance with the 625 kit
b) The camaro has extra work done (not likely the case going off reading the sister post)
c) M3 driver was doing it wrong with the paddle shifts. Maybe he had it on D mode?

I'm gonna bet my odds on a combiantion of A and C

Even if LM was running the smaller pulley (which I don't believe he was, pretty sure this was before he switched), he's still running the 535 tune. While a smaller pulley will add a few psi to the blower + increase power, he's certainly not getting an additional ~60 HP (540 --> 600) without a higher performance tune.

Also, if a pulley swap can make that much of a difference, why buy a 625 kit when you can save a ~$3k (catless X-Pipe money), buy a 550 & get nearly the same performance?

LM was running the smaller pulley and meth....FACT
A few psi is going to bump the power up quite a bit (me and him were the texting the day he put it on and couldnt believe the difference in the cars performance with the smaller pulley) . Your not understanding me, so I will repeat myself - the combination of him having a higher boost pulley and meth (doing the same job as the intercooler at cooling the IATs) and fully catless vs the other guy having 20inch wheels (which from what I've seen rob about 20-30whp on a dyno) and HFC will make that a close race. And if you think so, do yourself a favor when you sell your 335 and move onto an M3, buy a 550 kit throw on a higher pulley and then race an intercooled VT2-625/650, you will be surprised to see the outcome be much more than a buslength between the two cars (over a 7mph in trap speed as well). I dont see what is hard to understand here.

I doubt it was an ESS kit..

There is no comparison between a VT2-625 and a VT1-535 / 550 kit. You can take any single race you want and draw assumptions from it for fun and play with theoretical HP figures but in the real world with all things being equal the comparison it not close. I have more seat time in ESS supercharged M3's than anyone and I have driven and tested them all so believe me when I tell you this. The VT1-550 is one of my favorite kits, it is an overachiever that has often performed well beyond it's rating but it is not a VT2-625. There is a reason the VT2-600/625 holds the current 60-130 and 1/4 mile records for the E9X M3.

This is a realistic comparison between the two up to 160 mph. We switched drivers in this video and did several runs and the outcome was the same each time. The VT1 in this video is the older 535 series which is now a 550. Given that and the exhaust being stock it would be a little faster with the new upgrade and catless but even with another 15-30 HP you could not consider it "nearly the same performance".

Chevy has been building bad ass engines since the 60's, there is no question that they got it down. If given the choice I would take the M but will always be a fan of Chevy power.

If you brighten it up you can identify the ESS intake manifold also. Give me a min and I'll post that one too.

Here's another that clearly shows the blower and ESS manifold.

Couldn't agree more! I owned both kits and it goes from "wow" (535) to "holy "shit" (625) I'm gonna die! Too many people draw assumptions from watching vids and viewing dynos....the driver does have a lot to do with it. I raced several blown m's with my 535 and honestly, some of the other drivers just didn't have the skills.

How to lose to a Camaro SS with less power, more weight and shitty transmission with an excellent worthy DCT transmission, lower weight, more power and best supercharger on the market .
Camaro SS stock = 426hp and 410 ft lbs of torque vs VT2 625 hp kit, even with the extra mods on the SS; Shit just don't add up. I could see if it was a ZL1 Camaro with additional mods. Did anyone look at the engine?

How much skill is there required to go down a straight line at WOT while tapping paddles on the steering wheel, or rowing gears through the gates?

Starting in the right gear, not hitting rev limiter, not miss shifting, managing wheel spin are just a few.
