M3 Seat Covers?

I know, I know! Before even reading this most are going to say why use a seat cover on a new(ish) M3? My 2011 E92 LMB with black leather is in great shape after Euro delivery last year. One thing that bugs me though, is I'd like to drive my car when I go work out, golf, play racquetball, etc. If I could sweat like a normal person, that would be one thing, but I sweat like a frikin' beast when I'm working out or doing sports. But what use is a sports car if you're afraid to take it to do sporting stuff due to the sweat issue?

I have bottles of Lexol cleaner and conditioner. I have used the stuff regularly. However, I was thinking either a really nice-looking custom BMW seat cover would look better than a cheap universal cover, but most of the time while driving I'm not sweating too much. So the other think I thought was just buy a cheapish but waterproof seat cover (is neoprene water proof?) that I could throw on when I'm going to get dirty/sweaty, and just toss in the trunk when I'm doing anything else. My biggest concern with any of these options is- what if my sweat does get through the cover and make it worse than having to cover at all (since it wouldn't dry and just fester. Gross, I know!) Any experience out there from people in my predicament? I'm tired of throwing down towels that don't work anyways, and I'm tired of having to clean and condition my seat after every workout.

good for you for driving the car and enjoying it. I'm in the same boat, I just keep a couple beach towels in the trunk, I don't think there are any options for seat covers that don't look cheesy. I've just come to accept the fact I'll prob recover at 100k and respray front bumper every 50k. Not going to fret over road rash or a little wear and tear. Not to say I don't wash/wax/condition like a mofo though!

Seat covers are pretty awful looking. When I come back from a run in the warmer months I just throw a beach towel over my leather seats for the drive home.

Don't sweat it (no pun intended). Just wipe the seat down with a damp towel after getting it sweaty. No need to use Lexol all the time. In fact, I wouldn't use Lexol at all. I used to use it but now I use Leatherique. You can apply this stuff every couple months or so. But in the meantime, just wipe it down every now and then to keep it clean. The leather looks fine on my '08 M3 (extended Palladium Silver) with 52K miles on it now.

Work with a bio engineer to genetically modify your sweat so that it both cleans and conditions the leather. Sorry, I have nothing useful to contribute to this thread, other than maybe look at neoprene seat covers that will prevent any sweat or other liquids from getting to the surface. However, they may negatively affect the leather, in particular if it's any color other than black.

I have these made in denim for every car I own.
They are custom made and fit like a glove.
You throw them in the washer and they last a long time.

no to seat covers, but with that being said I have to wrap my passenger seat with towels when i transport my dog and the hair drives me crazy

I had the BMW sport seat covers in all of my previous cars (..and they actually look really good; they are more like partial covers that cover the seat bottom/seat back, but leave the bolsters exposed.), but I chose not to use them with the coupe. I just wipe my seats down once a week with a damp towel. It's working great! The seat covers hold sweat/odors, etc.

I had the same issue as u. As I drive it to the gym.

Now I just keep new trash bags in the trunk. The large ones and toss one over the seat back and lay one down on the bottom. Problem solved!

I used to use towels but they create way too much lint and dust flying around in the car. Black interior so it just looks dirty.

Towels slide around too easily, plastic will sweat like crazy. Do they have something like this for the m3:

I do exactly the same with a set of beach towels. Also by not leaving a wet seat cover behind I can prevent the car from smelling like the Y.

Here's a crazy thought...take off your sweaty shirt and put on a dry one. You could even change your shorts/throw another pair overtop if you want to go extreme.

I agree...garbage bags?? Come on... Why don't you put on a full body latex suit and really sweat a little...lol.

If you're gonna do seats covers, wetokole's are the only way to go. That said, I wouldn't do it. It's not a good look, IMHO. Keep a towel in your trunk for those sweaty rides to and from.

Lexol is not a very good product. Order some leatherique and clean/condition them twice a year. You'll be all set.

My daughter recommended covers she uses from buybuy baby - Clean Seat - to protect her seats from two monster children. Great product but is made for a central supported headrest so doesn't fit the laterally mounted M3. Guess I'll go back to the beach towel.
