Just saying that the 4Lt (or 4LZ, I don't remember) with the upgraded interior is typically packaged with magnetic ride suspension, giving it a slight advantage over the base Z06. I remember you from corvetteforum, I had the Torq RTC-650 Z06 with h/c/i and was in the middle of the shitstorm regarding the valves lol

- Z06 4LT vs Competition Package M3
- Centennial Z06 (Z07) vs M3 GTS

This is the only true comparison to be made and only in factory form... forget the mods and just compare the vehicles like this.
It's an M3 vs. thread.

We all know an M3 can't compete against a Z06 stock for stock and virtually everybody here is into modding, plus there is a robust aftermarket platform for the M3.

I bought my supercharger before I even had my M3. There are quite a few out there like me that wanted supercar performance and will get it with what we do to our M3's. From my vids above, I have accomplished that for the roll-on events. I'm address the track aspect (handling/braking) next year.

You genuinely feel that you've accomplished matching the straight-line performance of modified Z06's (which with those supporting mods are capable of running high 9's@~140) such as those in your videos? Here's one example of a vette modded less than the one's you ran:

You are easily going to need a built motor with a bigger blower and a built DCT transmission to keep up - which has never been done on the S65 platform thus far.

Unless you go very extreme E92 M3 will not reach supercar performance. Even if you reduced 500 to 600lbs on your M3 you still have chassis issue which you really cant do too much about. Then we have aerodynamics to account for and list goes on and on.

Track #s dont lie

'Ring times
Z06 - 7:22.68
M3 GTS - 7:48
Regular M3 - 8:05

I just dont see what you could do to close in on that gap.

To be fair one is a GT car and the other is a sports car(performance wise a supercar)

Nice car, nice mods, but still, an M3 with a supercharger, is still not a purposed built track car, like a Z06.

btw,...how are you liking that wavetrac LSD on your 335I? I'm getting it installed early next year.

Mag times are great, especially when they are done by the same driver, on the same day, with similarly equipped cars. However, it's doesn't tell the whole story. Certain cars have very steep learning curves, like the porsche carrera GT, or even the Z06. Others can be driven by a kid, like the GTR. This is what those expert numbers don't tell you, and it can be a huge reality check at the track.

Did the left lane at that airstrip event offer better traction? Or was it the other way around

I guess it depends on mods but these certainly weren't 140mph trap Z's and I am not dilusional about the performance of my M3 which is nothing more than a basic intercooled ESS kit with catless exhaust.

Taking power to weight into consideration, my car should be able to run with a ~ 530 RWHP Z and as you know, they don't make that stock.

Heck, I would have been happy just to run with a stock Z06 but the fact that I ran with two modded ones was nice. By the way these Z's both ran/beat a ZR1.

The LSD (together with the Michelin PSS) was the best thing I did for the 335. The car was undrivable at it limit with the open diff given how much HP/TQ I was making. Wtih the LSD, the car became a blast to drive, both on the track and on the street. It was so much fun to launch from a dead stop. Even in the rain I cut sub-4 second 0-60 times. It probably accelerated faster than my M3 from a stop up to 100. Reminds me that I need to do some VBox acceleration runs in my M.

lol yeah sorry I was assuming he was going to pull on me. You can actually see his shadow during the entire run except when I started pulling at the end.

The right lane seemed worse to me but on this run it didn't matter as we both spun a little bit but stayed side-by-side until about 130 mph where I began to creep ahead.

What is crazy that here in San Diego and SoCal I see more M3's than Vettes I know that is not the norm for the rest of the country but it is here.

I'm going through the same right now... do I get a E92 M3 or C6 Z06.

The car will see HPDEs at least 5-6 times a year... which is concerning to me given these engine failures (valve guide) are becoming far too common nowadays, specially to tracked cars.

Having owned a C5Z (and modded to 440rwhp), yes the power can be very intoxicating. It'll be a DD, but my commute is easy and short... I have been leaning towards the Z, but the engine issues are worrisome.

Straight-line speed is not my priority, though torque is always fun. The handling, the fun aspect, is what I'm looking for. We'll see...

Somebody school me. How did the Z06 manage to squeeze out a 1.4-sec better lap time than the ZR1 around Laguna Seca? Too much power in the ZR1 and loss of traction?? Better balance in the Z06??

EDIT: As I typed that, I read that a new record was set by the ZR1 last week with a 1:33.70. New SRT Viper clocked in at 1:35.77.
