ok so Ive narrowed it down .. I have (4) 18x8 black sport edition a7s in my garage, TPMS sensors, my car is on its way over to the US shortly... Ive decided I am going to order the dunlop 3ds.

now do I order 235/40r18 or 245/40r18 !? I like the wider look but I know narrower tires handle better in winter conditions.

I save about 80 bucks getting the 235/40s ... def looking for some feedback so i can pull the trigger !

Ben, thanks for clearing up all my questions!

I received the setup last week and just installed them on Sunday. Looks great on the car! I'll have to post a picture at some point...

Hi,

Everybody recommends 18" square setup with narrow Blizzaks. But in tirerack.com when I choose M3, it only gives me the option of WS60 with 18"s, not LM60s, and I'm guessing it's too much for Boston and I heard those tires are not good on dry. I need a complete solution, but BMW's ridiculous almost $4000 solution is just a waste.

Talk to Ben from TireRack, he helped me out.

I went with the A7 Sport Edition wheels with 8" in the front and 9" in the rear. I wanted to keep the rear a bit wider for the grip with all the power the car has. For tires I went with the Dunlop WinterSport 3D. I was worried that Blizzaks might be overkill for our winters. I've had them on the car for about a week and I am quite happy with them. They have decent reviews in general and I believe they should be more than adequate for Boston winters.

Quick question:

Will 235 45 R18 s fit with A7s ( 18x8, 18x9 ) ? Is it a problem to have a bigger side?
LM60 doesn't have 235 40 R18, that's why I'm asking.

Thank you!

Matte Black Miro 111s 18x8.5 ET20 w/ 245/18/40 Michelin PA3s on all corners. Decided to go for a square setup so I could rotate.

I originally wanted VMR CSL-reps, but apparently VMR no longer makes an 18" M3 offset.

Not many choices for square 18" setups for the Ms, so hopefully this can help others in search of options!

Thanks to Jurrian @ **********s for the help picking these out!

Winter Wheel offset

I am currently looking at a winter setup that includes 245/40/18. However, the wheels come off of a 5 series and they state a medium offset. I know my 2011 M3 states a high positive offset. Will this work for the winter? Am I in danger of any damage or problems with fitments. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Has anyone had issues with the Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D Xl being out of round?

I was getting a vibration from my new winter pkg and found the front pass tire is out of round. Would have expected more from Dunlop.

Also has anyone had issues with the hub bore on the Sport Edition A7? The same wheel is almost impossible to get on the car.

Ironically, it's the same tire/wheel location. I don't have summer wheels to put back on.

Update: Wheel hub bore on the Sport Edition A7 wheel was too small, and the tire was out of round.

Tire Rack Response: Tire rack is sending me a new Wheel and Tire.

This is why I always suggest using the Tire Rack!

hi everyone, new to the forums (first post). I recently got in a '12 M3 fully loaded on the 19'' comp pkg rims/tires.
I've driven RWD sports cars in the snow before with 19" blizzaks and it's amazing so I want to do the same with my M3.

Since it's spring/summer I got a great deal on some blizzaks through tireracks closeout special.. I got the same size rear tires 265/35-19 so I'm OK there.
For the front tires the closest they come is 245/40-19. So we are looking at 5% thicker profile, I think that comes out to 24mm thicker (top and bottom) (24mm= .94 inches) so we are talking a little less than 1 inch added to the profile or .5 inch all around

Will this difference be ok? Should I reconsider? Is a dealer going to care when I take them to be mounted next winter?
How about performance issues? Hoping the difference is small enough I really don't need to worry. In theory, once that added 5% wears down, it would be no different than a 245/35-19 at that point (tread depth may differ slightly, but overall diameter would not)

I'm not going to run 18's or different rims.

thanks!!

Dan

In a car winter tire is high quality, exact fitments and all wheels manufactured using strict quality control standards. In a winter car easy bolt on installation and it is already mounted and balanced. It is the best tire in you car.
