Vinyl or Plastidip?

Has anyone wrapped their car here?

Was tempted before but never went ahead. But recently had the itch again and been looking through but now I've found stuff like plastidip?

Seems quite mad. Costs slightly less and easy to peel?

Had both. Plastidip when done right is durable and it lasts. You will have to adjust your washing technique a bit. People claim that it does not last as long as vynil but that is why I love plastidip. I have sprayed my cars whitle. Black. Blue. And yellow. And for roughly about 300 per car u can spray your car every 6 months or a year different colour of choice.
To wrap a car cost was 2600 for 3m wrap. The finish is beautiful but it is very labour Intensive. One may try to Wrap himself then the product costs about 1000 for a roll of vynil. Plastidip looks great and its a Diy if you like the flat matte look. If you prefer glossy finish vynil is the way to go. Plastidip sells the glassifier but its nowhere near close in quality to vinyl glossy finish. It's a simple calculation really. For the price of wrap you can plastidip your car 5 times in different colours.

I was hunting around for vinyl wraps, but didn't know that the cost was so huge! So I might go down the plastidip route. But not DIY for sure.

Know any reasonable price and good quality people to do?

I may consider vinyl but huge cost.

Also, will either ruin the clear coat? That's one major issue I'm worried about and there doesn't seem to be much information on after people have done them on their cars.

Depends how long you want it on for. For a couple months to a year, go with Plastidip. For 2+ years, go with vinyl. Certain vinyls look great also like the vinyl I have on my car right now looks like frozen paint. Plastidip has a very matte finish and often times make cars look very cheap. And with plastidip if not done right will have weird fuzzy texture.

My advice is just to go with vinyl. It's more expensive but looks great.

I might go for plasti dip first to see how i feel purely down to cost and to protect the paint over the winter season Looking for someone / somewhere to do it though.

How much did your wrap cost?

Hello, I am picking up my M3 on the 15th cant wait!! Im am getting a wrap on the 18th in gloss white. Its costing me 1050 but i have had quotes up to 1500 for the same thing. I am also going to pay extra and get the front bumper and bonnet wrapped in the clear film too to protect the white wrap from stone chips. I will post pictures of the before and after. thanks Lee

I think I'm going for vinyl as well when the time comes. Just looks so impressive.

Wrap did myself aswell. Much more time consuming. But it does hold a nicer finish

What a great idea!

Noticed he wont ship to the UK though, this place www.cardipuk.com does the same stuff. Bit more expensive but still cheaper than vinyl wrapping. I think I'll give it a go when the weather warms up!

Thing is that I just had my bonnet re-sprayed cause of stone chips. Guess it won't be a good time to do it straight away?

Daaamn. It's just been done.
Same with vinyl?

The thing is that I want to protect the new paint, that's the whole point.
