Did you flash the tune while the car was on the dyno ? Sometimes these cars need some adaptation time ...

Yes I did. I realized that. I started the car the next morning and my RPM was bouncing all over the place because of the cold start delete. I contacted ESS and they said the tune needs time to adapt to the car.

These cars tend to adapt fairly quickly. It would probably be ideal to drive around for awhile (<50mi), but on the dyno, I think doing a lot of repetitive runs should suffice.

No one told me this. As you can see, the graph did get better on each run. but the HP didn't move much.

A 13whp and 12wtq is pretty nice.

Yeah man, I think you got pretty solid gains from your baseline. Ignoring all max values, you'll notice a nice increase in area under the curve. Personally, I think that's what is felt on the street or track.
I believe these motors and DMEs are incredibly sensitive to IATs and Fuel. So if your dyno shop didn't have ample cooling, that could also hinder or skew your dyno measurements. Provided your car is healthy, I can almost guarantee that you would be neck and neck with a car with similar mods that could have potentially put down 380whp on other dynos. Dynos are tricky and rather tedious to work with. The more important thing is that you had a baseline and you showed a nice gain from there. ![]()

I technically didn't have a real baseline since my baseline included a Akra EVO exhaust installed. I didn't dyno the car stock, which is a mistake on my end.

If your car is running strong and if it pairs well with other cars on the street performance wise, I wouldn't even fret about the numbers. I've seen dynos of cars putting around around 345whp with the Akra Evo, 91OCT, and DCT, so you're not too far from that.

Just read this thread, I also have 2010 m3 DCT, ESS tune, BMC air filter, Full amuse ericsson exhaust system 100cell race cat, straight pipe to muffler. my dyno are close to yours and I'm very disappointed with my dyno result too. And looks like updating to 231E didn't do much on the power gain for your car.
Maybe just a 2010 thing. Here are my result without the updated 231E or 240E: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=771240 |

Wow did I see this correctly, you have a full akro system and dynoed a 339 and then someone else also with catless system (100 cats) did in the 330's as well? I honestly would simply guess 2010 had a run of weak cars, or else you both babied the car too much during break in-but even that really should not explain this low of numbers.
Most bone stockers are hitting 350. Mine was a 351 like the average. With xpipe/HFC and AA and 95 octane was at 381. I think unfortunately you should got a weak horse out of the factory. Just like some are stronger. All luck of the draw. Unliekly you will ever notice though but I know mentally it still sucks. Try getting an AA filter, some race fuel to increase octane to atleast 95 by mixing with 91/93 and give it a whirl again. If you do no tbreak 355 there is clearly just something weak about the engine |
