I am still at a bit of a loss of how people in their early 20's can afford a new M3. Sure you have the occasional entrepreneurial genius, etc., but I am just curious to know exactly what kind of jobs people in their early 20's are getting to allow this. Even if you finish college at 21, you need a few years of savings to get somewhat settled, no? And are people really getting 6 figure salaries immediately out of undergrad?

I know some of it may be priorities. I would never buy a new M3, for instance, if I didn't have a proper garage to keep it in, which means that I would have to have a decent house first.

Just curious.

I was raised differently, and started buying "nicer' cars once I thought everything else is covered... house, student loans from my wife, college fund for the kiddo, savings/investments, etc... I had to wait until I was 38 and I feel very lucky about that. But I pass no judgement on anybody who goes through life differently.
I pass no judgement either, but I would offer some advice. Long term success and happiness in life is about balance. In this case, finding a balance between enjoying the present and planning for the future. If someone bought a new M3 and then has to scrape by with other stuff to make ends meet, they have tipped that balance too much to living in the present.

27. Supervising pharmacist.

Just bought a house, and now am buying my dream car (traded up my sti) in the same year.
I agree with some people confused at how early 20's can afford this car without parents paying for it. I saved almost 90% of my earnings through my early-mid 20's to afford this stuff.

On a lighter note,

Just checked my prod #, it says production finished. From what I've seen on the board here this means maybe another 3-4 weeks before I get my beast right??

Yes, even out of tier 2 universities. Someone from an ivy working in finance should be making in the 6 figures especially after a year or 2.

Even if someone is making low 6 figures right out of college, the cost of living in California is so high I'm not sure if an M3 is really "responsible" or easily affordable.

$700/month isn't extremely irresponsible for a single young man making $100k/year.

Thanks - you too! The car was my outlet - hard drives after 10 hour Saturday study sessions cleared my mind to do it all over again on Sunday.

I know a few M3 driving charter holders - makes sense as both the car and the charter are well respected, offer great value for cost and serve as the gold standard of their respective categories....

I have learned the value of a dollar at a young age and have been working 60 to 80 hour weeks since I was about 16. Did I miss out on some fun with friends? Yea maybe, but that was the sacrifice I made to have nice things. I have bought my own house and yes, I do have a single car garage to put it in. I would never spend nearly 80k for a car and not put it in a garage. I also did not start out with a 6 figure salary. Good budgeting, and hard work keeps the bills paid and money in my pocket.

I'm 24 now, bought my car at 22.5
This is my 3rd bimmer, I've owned a 525i and 740il before my m3. The m3 is by far my favorite. I am an X-ray and MRI tech in the Silicon Valley.

Bought my car used with less than 10k miles fully loaded for 52k

Silverstone metallic with extended fox red interior

Btw mommy and daddy didn't buy it for me, I make my own money

Okay so I probably shouldn't be posting here because I'm part of the lesser, 328i grandma-slow guys. But on the poll, why does it start at 18? I have a friend who is 16 and has an M3. Just saying there may be one or two 16 or 17 year old guys on here. I thought I was extremely spoiled being 18 years old with a high mileage 328i lol. Did pay for a 1/4 of it though to be fair.
