Buying an exhaust in Germany
Howdy!
I bought my e92 M3 this past fall prior to deployment, having just enough time to break her in and enjoy the car prior to our mild winter this year. The plan is to take the car on an awesome R&R road-trip in two months and I am looking into getting some parts, including an exhaust, for the trip. Thankfully, I am good friends with the rear-d Commander and he is willing to let me mail him parts and will take the car to the dealer for a service and part install prior to my return in September. I don't want to waste any days waiting on the car to get prepped! The million dollar question, however, is where do I buy an exhaust from? Remus, Akrapovic, and Eisenmann, for example, are all popular exhausts produced here in Europe. Is it cheaper and/or easier to buy these with a VAT form than have something shipped from the US? I find it hard to believe that it would be cheaper to do have a part made in Europe shipped to the US then shipped back to Europe for install. Where have y'all bought your exhausts from in the past? Any recommended dealers or installers? Thanks, Chris |

I've been browsing the internet in search of the same question. Pending the euro-to-dollar slip (which seems to be the current trend) it's cheaper to purchase it in the states. The Akrapovic exhaust online prices have been 6k euro and 6k usd. Even with VAT form it was cheaper to purchase from the states, although, that could change if the euro keeps slipping. I'd really like to hear anyone that's shopped around more in Europe though.

Hey Chris,
We ship over to Europe fairly often. We have some friends at Remus who could help us out with your situation. ![]() Last edited by GMP Performance; 08-30-2012 at 04:18 PM. |

Also, one of the guys I work with got an Akra catback from a dealer here in Germany for about 2k-ish Euro w/Vat form. I can ask him where as I dont remember since I wasnt really shopping around at the time. Ill post when I get more details... EDIT: Ok, get a hold of ralfkrenzer@t-online.de. The price is close to what I said before just dont want to quote numbers and have this removed by mods for some violation or another. My friend got the catback system and had it delivered direct to his house on the German economy. I found a thread where someone else bought their full Akra Evo system from Ralf also here. Maybe you can email them and see how their experience was. Anyway, just another option out there. I have no affiliation with him nor did I personally order, just passing information.

my vote is for the oem muffler mod if you are just looking for improved sound. at 250€ versus 6-8x that for pretty much same sound its a no-brainer.

You can have Akra slip-on for about 2300 Euro (no VAT), or full system for 3700 Euro. PM me.

like Karussel said the different mufflers are just basically for your taste in sound really...I myself have an Akra slip on and it was 2700 dollars over here thru Pentagon car sales....If you go the oem mod route just make sure you like the higher pitch sound...me personally i like the deeper exotic tone and thats why i went that route (cant stay too much rasp), but all in all performance wise theres no difference....i get my test pipes put on Tuesday and i can video the sound with the Akra slip on test pipe combo bro

Finally back to a FOB with internet that lets me do more than check my e-mail. According to the Army, m3post.com is a prohibited malicious website. *rolls eyes* Anyways, I think I am going to attempt to pick up an Akra Evo system when I get back in March. Who did y'all contact through Pentagon to order the exhaust? I got my M3 though Margit at Rösch Maurer in Ansbach and they seem... less than willing to do aftermarket parts.
