Strange tire wear??

I finally got around to putting on my snow tires/wheels tonight. I had some unusual wear on my passenger front tire. Rest of the tires had normal nice even wear.

It goes all the way around the tire. Tires have 2 DDT events on them, last one was very cold and I had one spin.

Alignment was done about 2 months ago and EA. Running around -2.2 camber up front and 0 toe, well that what it was when it left EA anyways, LOL.

You don't think the left side wear is odd? It's worn pretty badly compared to the rest of the tire and it's in the particular spot going full round the tire.

DDT is pretty abrasive, and that tire would take the brunt of it on the DDT in the configuration we were running. I do get similar wear as you have shown running on that track.

He must have been really pushing those tires hard - we know how he tried hard to stay out in front of me.

If I wanted to stay out in front of you, thats where I would have been.
I wonder if that last cold day at DDT did it though, I really was not pushing hard since the car was very loose due to the cold weather.

Cold weather could have had an impact for sure. Also with the wet track, some of the other tires may not have shown the same wear as that one saw more of the rougher spots and may have also had more heat/pressure being generated. Did you check the pressures at all during the day?

They were a bit high when I checked in the morning, just over 40psi hot.

had the same wear pattern on both front tires on mine. I'm guessing it's due to the lack of negative camber in the stock suspension

I agree with the Jaypod. Between the cold and how rough DDT is, it'll just chew through tires. I just looked at my tires again, and they're similar in wear, but not as deep - but that's probably cause I don't have as much weight in the front of the car.

i have the same in my 2 fronts oem ps2s...ran twice cayuga..i wouldnt worry too much.

By the appearance of that tire, I assume you are turning left a lot...(I imagine this is where the ricky bobby comment came from)

Depends on the configuration & direction that is being used.

I wouldn't worry about it. To me it looks like you were lucky to be getting any sort of grip the last day out! I can show you my tires and they have wear like that on all four, generally do, especially when I was running NT05's.

Stalker, why do you run 0 toe?
I was under the impression if the car runs negative toe, it gets better initial turn in and is more stable under acceleration out of corners. Doesn't stock M3 run engative toe from the factory?

Camber is positive or negative, you can set up the car to have toe out or toe in. A bit of toe out will make turn in sharper, but will cause the car to be a bit more "nervous" for daily driving. I use to run a touch of toe out, but trying 0 toe now.
