We have seen none. Our tuner prefers the 231 base file if you ask him.

[Updated FAQ]
I am currently on software version 231E now. Are there any benefits to updating to 240E? If 190E or earlier, we recommend updating to at least 231E, preferably 240E. At this time, the update path from 231E to 240E seem to be primarily focused on emissions, with no change in performance. However, there is no harm in updating to 240E if desired.

Hi, interesting thread!
Is there any difference in new and old ECUs when it comes to the tuning or read/write time? I heard newer hardware versions (2011- or so) take much longer to read than 2008 for example. And that it isn't possible to read out the whole ECU in the newer versions as well. Do you tuners have to approach the 2011- cars any differently than the older ones? Thanks Chris |

Another question
.Given my setup stays stock, what would the estimated outcome be with the tune and the same standard fuel? The dyno below was done with 95 ROZ fuel which is I believe 93 Octane over in the US. I would not want to put any different fuel in to achieve more power. Here is my dyno, 2 runs: ![]() Leistung is whp SAE and Drehmoment is wtq. Software is 170E |

Easy to use with very good support. I had my base file updated to the latest version when I did my tune. Im looking forward to loading ESS supercharger software with my cable if I can get it past the wife this spring.

Just wanted to share a recent ESS E-Flash before/after dyno session on a 2009 M3 with some minor bolt-ons. The only thing missing was a performance flash tune.
ESS's E-Flash was immediately added and the M3 strapped to the dyno. The results were very impressive. ![]() Vehicle 2009 BMW M3 DCT Modifications Macht Schnell Performance Filter Fabspeed Resonated X-Pipe (primary catalysts intact) Rogue UnderDrive Pulley Remus Race axleback Options [X] Update to 240E (previously on 200E OS) [X] Remove cold start cat heat cycle/camshaft phasing (for smoother cold starts) [X] Retain OEM Rev limiter (customer specified) [X] Remove top speed governor/VMAX M3 was originally on 200E OS, which was updated to 240E before applying the ESS flash tune. Plugs were already changed approximately 500mi ago as part of scheduled maintenance. As you can see, gains are achieved throughout the entire powerband. Those with 93 at the pump can expect even better results ![]() Dyno added to post #3.

Just wanted to bump this thread and the awesome walkthrough video that EAS has for the eflash process.
I was working with AJ@ESS on a few things with my ESS kit software and I was a little fuzzy on what to do throughout the process and wanted to just double check and the video was very helpful in confirming everything. Thanks again for making that video EAS!

Tempted to do this tune through EAS since I'm in the OC...
How is the reliability of this tune on the track? Engine doesnt run hotter than stock? Timing isn't so aggressive that the engine starts having to pull alot of timing? Any graphs that show this after the engine is well heat soaked? |

I am assuming with the software I can always re flash back to the oe softwre for track use on a hot day with socal 91 oct correct? However the cable is not stand alone and I would need a computer to switch? Would be pretty awesome to switch via iPhone or iPad or a handheld switcher. Also, rather than running race fuel on the track as that can get very pricey... Has anyone ran water meth on the M3 to raise octane levels? And prevent timing retardation and engine knock? I still have my water meth kit from my 2010 GTI as well as a case of Snow Performance Boost Juice... Hmmm |

Simply bring race gas with you to the track or use the Torco Accelerator additive. We use the same additive on our S/C applications when race gas isn't readily available.
