Hi I just went out to put my car away and on start-up the idrive screen displayed a completely pink background with no other display. Eventually it went off. I can still hear radio, Media etc but there is no data displayed at all..
Any ideas? It's been quite warm here over the last few days but it only ever reaches about 30deg C.. Car is just 3 months old ![]() Bob |

I think I wrote too soon. Just been back out and it's now working fine...
Strange. Maybe a glitch or perhaps the start of a common fault. If it happens again then I'll contact dealer.. Cheers. Bob |

I'd watch it carefully. Mine did that a little bit then it would do it more often until it was like every 5 or 6 starts. Sometimes it would randomly reset while driving too. Got updated with 231E and that seemed to help but when it is really humid it acts up sometimes...
About to take it back in again if it does it again. Tough though because it doesn't happen all the time, only occasionally.

Mine did that once about a year and a half ago. It was really cold at the time. The screen came up when I started the car and went pink then black after the car was running for a couple minutes. It has not done it again since then.

I have a 2013 m3 and it just happened. I freaked so I called for service. Bright red screen at start up. I'm hoping it goes back on its own. Any tips beside pushing the volume button for 25 sec?

I have seen this happened before. I got a red screen when I started up the car and then it went blank but could still hear the radio. All I did was shut off the engine and waited 30 mins. When I turned on the car, everything was back to normal.

Red screen means that the screen is powered on but isn't getting a video signal... So it's either the navi unit going bad, or a loose connection. Also make sure voltage is good.

You guys are right. It went back to normal operation as soon as I got back out from a short stop at a store. I wonder if I should still keep my service appointment just for diagnostics or a complete waste of time. Mind you, I just came from my 1200 mile service over the weekend and they also did a electric diagnostics because my light bulb in the trunk was not working. I'm also wondering if this sudden rain and heat here in SoCal is creating moisture in the system.
