car makes nice torque low and a very nice curve, but 9 psi on stock motor?? of course it's gonna make good power, but for how long?
at a min why not use headgaskets to drop compression a little and run like 12psi? |

We actually did about 6 runs back to back with 2 minutes in between. The first 3 we got massive tire spin at 5k Rpm.

It actually runs cooler than the hks stage 2 cars so its not much of a problem. We will also offer level 1's and level 2's to fit the needs of every customer. New Pricing: Level 1 $10,800 W/ Intercooler Level 2 $12,800 W/Intercooler We beat the hell out of this thing all day running the Level 3 with 9.5 psi in the exact same configuration as the dyno above.

That certainly looks very competitive with any of the available kits in terms of power and torque. Boost may be a little higher, but as you note, if the temperatures are fine, another psi won't matter.

I get that temps are better, less chance of detonation, but cylinder pressures are still a concern no? Esp on a motor that was never designed to be boosted.. Don't get me wrong, kit looks sick and makes good power just wondering where it ends, and why hasn't someone tried dropping the comp w/ head gaskets just yet prior to going all out and building a motor

Thanks. Up to .040, wow. I would like to see a comparo between equal compression setups using the 2 choices. I have built a few race engines over the years and the race engine builder I was schooled under frowned on thicker head gaskets to achieve lower comp( unless head planing was performed).

Boost pressure is not the key cause of higher cylinder pressure. Flow volume, ignition timing, and cam timing are the most important. The biggest killer of engines is heat. The newer kits run more efficiently than the previous generation and therefore can make more power and maintain the same level of reliability. We are going to continue testing the durability of level 3 before it is officially released. So far things have gone well with atleast 50 dyno pulls in the last couple weeks, along with a full day of drifting. Using a thicker headgasket would drastically reduce the efficiency of these modern engine's combustion chambers. It worked, with moderate success, on the old inline 6 engines, but does not belong on something like the S65.
