I've always wondered what advantage the Trophy kit would have over the standard kit ST kit since weight saving us not necessarily a good think when it comes to brakes.

Another nice feature about these wheels is they look like they'd be pretty easy to clean.

Well 99% of the time I wouldn't really need the rear kit... in fact I can put more aggressive pads on and be fine... maybe 0.1s slower otherwise lol

Well unsprung weight does matter - so lighter brakes will make your suspension more responsive. But the trade off is the more mass the more heat capacity the brakes will have. Having 6 pistons in the trophies help because it spreads out the heat - pad surface is much bigger. Also the milled out areas in the caliper actually increase surface area which will also help a bit. Also anodized aluminum is actually an excellent heat conductor versus bare aluminum. I'm not sure how paint conducts heat but it's hard to get better than aluminum with type 3 annodizing.

Yeah I can bleed the brakes without removing the wheel

Finally broke out my DSLR and snapped a few good ones



I like how when you look straight on the depth of the "blades" and the milled slots are completely hidden and only shows the sleek spokes, maximizing view to the rotor and caliper.


Then when you move your viewpoint (a little or a lot) you see a different dimension. Revealing the depth of the spokes - wide near the hub and tapering as it goes to the outside.



The rear is so meaty - you can hardly tell it's 295's unless you look lower. But the concavity gives you a little hint of how with these puppies are....


Those milled slots are so awesome. They are far from cosmetic. The weight removed from the slots are substantial. They are very deep and wide. Here are some pictures demonstrating it.



I agree with fruitcake that perhaps 19s may look better but definitely the 18's will have an advantage on the track. Compared to my te37sl 18's there is a noticeable difference. The steering feels VERY responsive. When I turn up my suspension to full stiff it's no longer as harsh on the street. I can tell the dampeners are responding faster with all the unspring weight loss. I'm hitting the track thursday and will report after

The setup looks fantastic!

The long and very thin spokes of the BBS FI really accentuate and elongate the diameter of the wheel. Despite being 18", they definitely look a tad lager than some other equivalent sized wheels!

My 18x9.5 TE37s already feel so light on the street and track, I can't imagine what those feel like!!

On another note, what suspension setup are you using?

I'm currently on GC sleeve kit and plates. Thats the last and final piece of the puzzle and then the car is done. the only thing left is to strip it down and cage it lol

If you can wait, MCS is supposed to be releasing their 2-way non-remote reservoir dampers in '13 (~spring). However, the RS is an awesome damper...

I doubt you'll be the 1st but if you are you'll get great service dealing with any development pieces - these are usually worked out with several pre-production updates on test cars before the dampers are released to the public. They will be an AWESOME set of dampers

People who run the Brembo BBK on the rear axle might need to modify the bolts which connect callipers to the bracket, otherwise the heads of the bolts could rub at the rim.
No spacers required and stock bolts can be used. I run the combo 265/35-18 and 295/30-18. No rubbing at any time.
