Just google 1000hp civic, or any car for that matter. Now, excuse me while I go to Ferrari chat and talk about how much faster my "modified" m3 is vs. a 599 or a lambo

Because it's the same platform ... when you think about it ...

Hey! Put some "pea shoot" side mirrors on your M3 and it'll be a Pagani Huayra!

I think most enthusiasts on here would agree that the downsizing trend was done to meet gov regulations and increase fuel economy.. not because they made a "mistake"

+1 ..its what makes the e9X/s65 unique and sure to be sought after for yrs to come..look at the trend with muscle cars..bet you in 1970 owners never would have considered their value trend yrs later, when the gas shortage and insurance regulations at the time forced people into econoboxes.

And before anyone calls me biased, I own both an M3 and an X5 with the twin turbo V8.. I love great engines of all types..

For a car like the X5 the twin turbo setup is ideal, I want power down low, I didn't buy an SUV to rev it out.. however when I'm in the mood for a spirited drive or a nice cruise, there is nothing that puts a smile on my face like hitting an on ramp in my M3, downshifting to 2nd gear, and redlining the car while the engine sings towards 8300rpm The M3 is a visceral experience and begs to be driven hard!

You are making subjective points. You seem to only be capable of making these types of statements.

1. I do not want the S65 engine. The N54 with light tuning (piggyback/flash and meth/85) has a flatter torque curve and more HP with less displacement.

2. I would never drive a DCT transmission even though I can get a DCT in the 335is. I prefer a manual transmission for personal reasons.

3. You are mostly right here. However, I have got my fuel injectors, HPFP and X-drive system all replaced under warranty without having to remove any modifications on my car. Now, if my engine blew up that might be a different issue, though if you knew anything about the N54 engine you would also know that over a 1,000 N54 owners have been driving tuned motors with zero major engine failures since 2007. You could also go with Dinan parts and keep the warranty, though they are more expensive.

See above AND your M3 warranty is also invalid if you track your car and BMW can prove it.

You are obviously missing the point again and these comments are childish. I am starting to get the feeling that you wouldn't even be able to change the oil in your own car. Not that there is anything wrong with that other than it establishes that you are someone who knows nothing more than what you read in your manual, on BMWNA website or here from your service adviser at your dealership.

Oh and BTW, my car stickered at $74k, not $60k so technically you have about $25k to mod your 335's.

I'm pretty sure Ferrari owners have the same problem, but you don't hear them complaining. Bottom line is there are those who get high revving N/A cars and there are those who don't.

The real reasons the M cars are going FI are because of 1) fleet fuel requirements; 2) BMW's expressed strategy (communicated in numerous investor presentations and earnings calls) to share engine blocks/components in order to dramatically reduce development/production costs and improve profitability. So who exactly is "fooling" whom?

I wrote some counter points but erased them. The truth of the matter is that they wouldn't matter as any kind of civil discourse with you is not possible.

One needs to be capable of making objective comparisons in order to successfully compare two things - otherwise, any information is diluted with conjecture and personal opinion.

The bounds of a logical argument escape you and you're so centered on "winning" that you've forgotten what you're writing about. Illogical and unobjective statements don't lend well to a productive debate.

It's ironic that you continue to call others childish when, if you read your own writing, you'll find that you're the only one hurling insults and name calling.

Childish behavior should not be rewarded. Or as the Internet puts it: "Don't feed the troll" - a smart suggestion that I'll now follow.

Yeah, misinformation. Considering there are dealers and even BMW CCA sanctioned track events out there, I'd imagine that the occasional track visit would not warrant triggering the abuse clause of the warranty.

And even if it did, how would they know if you tracked your car anyway?

Unless you crash at the track (which brings a whole new set of problems) no one is really going to know you've been there.

I posted on this thread because of the amount of hate that was thrown to the car community I am apart of and enjoy. A good portion of the N54 community are young kids whose parents bought them a car, they spend a couple grand to make it faster than an M3 and think they have the greatest thing since sliced bread.

The other half bought the an N54 because it is one of the best tuning platforms around in regards to bang for the buck.

In not one post did I say my car was better, so why the hostility???

I'll never said my car was better, just different. Not sure I missed that point...ever.

Care to explain what is illogical about preferring a MT over DCT, or a DCT over MT? What is illogical about preferring an inline 6 that produces more HP and TQ with less displacement? Illogical about pointing out that you can buy Dinan parts and keep your 4 yr warranty?

Or is it illogical to compare a honda civic to a lambo given the basis of our conversation?

Maybe it is your that are blinded about needed to protect the sanctity of the M3 and how nothing could be as good despite people's taste for different, yet similar things.

relax buddy

Look, the gist is that no one cares about your mods. You can talk until you're blue, but few people believe that comparing modded vs unmodded is a fair comparison.

Anyway, I think the situation is reverse. There is no interest in preserving the sanctity of the M3. We have what we have. It's not like we couldn't have purchased a 335i and modded it. Remember, you're the one here in our forum, talking about how your 335i is just as good, and thumping your chest about your mods.

I have nothing against the 335i and the N54. I considered buying a 335is. It's a fine car, but what ultimately disqualified it for me was the HPFP issues which has nothing to do with what we're talking about here.
