Other Products Besides Apple iPod's

I am in the search for other MP3 players rather than Apple products. None of the Apple products will hold enough music for me as of right now. I have 9,500+ on my iTunes. Anyone else own something else that will hold that much music and is easily used in a car?

Does your car have USB port? Maybe you just buy a flash drive and plug it in. Although that wouldn't let you listen anywhere else x_X

This one will hold your music, and then some.

9500 what? Hours? Songs?

An ipod classic will hold 40,000 songs. You can swap out the hard drive on your own up to 240 gb.

It does. But I like to be able to control and see what song I want to hear you know.

i've been around all kinds of computers, a netbook is definitely the best compromise.

for $250, you get:
a real computer will a full windows os
a music player with an 8 hr battery
a video player /dvr (mine lacks hdmi out, though i have an ultrabook for that)
a retro arcade/console jukebox
a mobile office (set up anywhere with wifi or tether)
a cell phone (free calls/texting via google voice)
a camera/videocam

not to mention usb external drives are so cheap now, a virtual file server for $100 more. the dual-atom cpu is pretty good with basic browsing/office tasks. email and messaging forums haven't changed in the past 10 years. i'm also a big radio guy, it's awesome that all my favorite stations are online now.

Is that necessary to have 9500 songs on your iPod at all times? I have almost 5000 songs total on my itunes but I only sync the most recent 500 songs since I don't usually listen to all of my old music

and when you aren't (or can't be) online? think airplanes, cruise ships, tour buses, and blackouts. i'd advise against putting your complete trust in "the system". but hey, it's your funeral.

btw, it's jc (anybody else? let's just get it over with before thanksgiving)

Garage List
2007 BMW 328i  [3.62]
Buy a WD Passport. 1TB for 100 bucks should be more than enough for all your music. It's portable so you can plug it in your car and use it as an external storage and transfer songs that way.

Or another way someone suggested is the IPod Classic, 160GB is a lot of memory.

He specifically referred to this for his car.
If there is no cell service, download some playlists locally for offline use.

I use Spotify, Pandora, and Google Music to stream my 8,000-song library or anything else. If I'm on a plane, I have playlists downloaded to my phone/tablet for offline use. "The system" has never let me down, and if it does, I don't think I'll die.
