iPhone 5 audio playing through phone and not car
Has anyone experienced their music/podcast audio playing out of their phone instead of the car speakers?
Every once in a while, I plug in my iPhone 5 (connected via lighting USB cable) and the audio will not play on my car speakers, even though iDrive is showing the progress of the music playing. Instead, it's playing on my phone. Sometimes it will get fixed if I disconnect and re-connect the phone. Or oddly enough if I play a different track through by finding it through searching. It doesn't fix itself if I turn on/off the volume or skip to the next track in the playlist. It's very strange and frustrating. I never had this problem on my iPhone 4. I'm going to try a different cable, but thought I would check to see if anyone else has had this problem. |

I have actually had this happen a few times myself, with my iPhone 4S as well as my iPhone 5. I had to turn the car off and reconnect. I have not done too much other testing at this point to identify if any other solutions would work, but the car seemed to be the main cause, not the phone. I have a 2013...

The one time I had the issue was after using the phone and turning off the Bluetooth so my wife you talk on it without it piping through the car. After the call it played the music through the phone vs the car.

+1, Happened to me a few times via the following scenarios:
-The car was playing via bluetooth and I connected it via the white cable. -Car was playing via bluetooth, shut the car off (completely as if you're leaving and locking it), plug in cable, turn on the car Both occasions, I just simply turn the car off then on again and it fixed itself. Both occasions, with the cable connected, music still plays through the phone despite Itunes saying "Accessory connected" Weird, but a bug in the combox / bluetooth? ETA: iPhone4S
