this is a joke.
not saying that a special edition for DTM is worthless. I actually think thats a great idea. But if the only special thing about special editions are 100% light/basic cosmetic mods then why. A dtm special should have some sort of race inspiration input no? perhaps lightened or power, or improved handling, or cage, like the crt or gts. any direction toward performance would seem obvious no? I wonder how much this one is going to go for

Stock exhaust and brakes.....? If BMW keeps this up I'm going to start telling people my matte blue wrapped M3 is a special edition BMW too. THE WRAPPED EDITION M3.

Should have had DTM head lamps, GTS rear-wing, and dark chrome wheels of a custom design, matte black paint - with the M stripes and the interior touches as a minimum. Really a missed opporunity
... but then they would have to keep the parts like headlamps and the wing limited by VIN, to stop the very people complaining that there's too many special editions, without enough changes, and that M only stands for Marketing.. from buying them and fitting them to their standard M3's.

Could not agree more with ALL of the negative comments. This is so f%^&ing LAME. Come on BMW M, this is downright embarrassing.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

Could this be a sign that BMW is becoming desperate to sell its remaining M3 cars? Why would they have to resort to this kind of trickery if they were comfortable with the sales of there M3s.
I don't think the additional profit from these limited addition cars amounts to that much in the grand scheme of BMW operations. |

Over/under on remaining E92 M3 special editions: six
Nonetheless, all of them will be superior to the F10 M3.

Not a surprise at all. This isn't the M Division I came to love as a boy, as I would watch the E36 and E46 dominate racing then the few truly special editions that followed roll out like the Lightweight and the CSL that held a strong place as posters on my wall. There is no kid today that will pin an E92 Lime Rock or DTM Champion Edition M3 on his wall. When I was a kid the CSL came out and that was motivation for me to study so I can eventually buy one like that brand new when I get out of college. It's heartbreaking because I know the M Division will never again make a car like that because it's more watered down than a movie theater soda after all the ice has melted. The only thing that has me interested in the next M3 is that it will hopefully have a clutch pedal compared to the next C-Class AMG (fuck those boring Audis, not even going to try). If they get rid of those too... the newest M car I'll ever buy will be an E46 M3.
*fixed
