+1

I own a manufacturing company, we spend at least half a million on equipment/machinery and we are a small family business, so we have to make our money from somewhere

Ok I see your point on this part.

Not saying you can't charge a premium, but telling people years later that you're still paying for R&D which has been accomplished years ago or time and time again is not right.

read again; I am not discounting someone making a profit; I am; however, arguing the point that all you hear is, "oh it's R&D, I need to charge and bang you over the head". Sad part is half the people hear are sheep and just drop their cars off to a shop to get all the work done and pick it up and gladly pay a bill. Companies will charge the most they can willfully get, so in essence people in this community add to the problem as they are willing to spend it. You guys really think an X-pipe has tons of R&D and is worth $1,500?? C'mon, it's sad. I know from experience and have done ALL the work on my own car. Many others gladly pay for services as they couldn't change their own oil.

My point to this rant is that the BMW and specifically M tax is getting ridiculous w/ little justification.

Again its demand as well, people will charge X amount as long as they're are people they're willing to spend it.

And bringing up the 911 comparo is not correct. I am talking more along the lines of A/M companies/parts

you guys really think prices just drop for older platforms (meanwhile they're all using similar components) right lol. Only a fool would believe that. E46 m3 kits are now cheaper cause the cars are cheaper and the owners are now cheaper as the cars become more affordable. I mean, shit, it's pretty hard to sell a 12k SC kit for a car that now can be had for 15k right?

perfect example= IND/ m24 oil cooler which is ridiculously priced and meanwhile you could by a custom Mocal and just use AN fittings and lines for a HUGE discount.

I agree with you that things are pretty expensive, but you gotta pay to play. And again, in the end, these cars hardly need any modifications in order to have fun with them.
right, that's kind of my point. I do like to complain, but just cause we drive M3 doesn't mean we like to throw money around. I work my ass off, and for some vendors justification of pricing is just wrong. I'd rather be told, "oh you drive an m3? Price just went up about 1k" than the whole mantra of why pricing is what it is.

If I think the cost is not justified (for any product) - I just don't buy it, simple as that.
yeah don't even get me started there. I used to do some work w/ Ferrari/Maserati dealers and was BLOWN AWAY at the cost for things OEM, let alone A/M. But it is what it is, as said before: As long there is a customer in line waiting to shell out $$ for something cool/unique they'll be someone there to sell it to them. Esp. if your car of choice is a Ferrari; now we just added two extra 0s to the invoice

You just said it... it's simple price elasticity. And in that regard, nothing else matters...not R&D, not overhead, not price of the underlying parts, etc. If you don't like the price, don't buy it.

I'm not ready to make a new thread just yet on the improvements we have been making with our kits, but just to show you guys this is why you cannot compare boost in the manifold to others blowers.

After tuning and putting the stock rims back on we make a constant 535 On our mustang dyno on 9.5 psi. This will equal around 580-590whp on a Dynojet.

So was the belt slipping on the HKS run? Boost shouldn't taper on that, correct?

At that boost it does fall off at the top. There was No belt slip whatsoever in these runs.

I think this is on the low compression motor that is less efficient. If so, it should do better on a stock compression motor, which would be more efficient and run less boost.

Wow. I did not know tuners were running 10-11 psi peak boost on stock 12.0:1 motors on pump gas.

We were trying to see the capabilities of the blower during testing. It's currently running 9-9.5 psi
