Please stop me!! I want to order RS-5
I've been thinking about the RS5 for a while and before any one asks I'm keeping the M
. I met yesterday with a friend who has a brand new RS5 and I did like it I know from all the reviews that the M is the better car but since I'm keeping it I'm not worried too much. What do you guys think..... Am I creazy![]() Last edited by racedoc11; 11-05-2012 at 08:40 PM. |

Honestly, I would be happy with either. I'm not able to use the full potential of the M, so I wouldn't mind either or. The M will be the better drivers car, but the RS5 looks amazing. Although I do feel like the rear of the car has gotten pretty dated IMO

It's a great looking car, sounds great, and is a very mediocre performer. Drove one in Germany... I wasn't impressed at all. Don't waste your money on this.

Having literally traded in an A5 a week ago for my M3 - yes, you are creazy ;-) Granted, the RS5 is a vastly different beast than my A5. The service/dealer situation was pretty awful. BMW dealers always seemed to jump to solve any warranty issue, and I would have to twist the arm of Audi service the two warranty issues I had. I could never shake the idea that I had, essentially, a dressed up VW.
Audi is still #2 in my mind for this type of car, but there's some distance between #1 and #2... It's a *gorgeous* car though. Just angry enough above and beyond the already pretty A5/S5 design. |

I'm not surprised at your experience with Audi service. A friend of mine told me the same thing. I'm waiting on a test drive when my local dealer gets one in Dec and take it from there.
When it comes to BMW service some dealers are clueless. So make sure you look your issue on the forum before taking your car to service. The guys here on the forum are GREAT Quote:

Don't understand why you would. You're keeping your M, so what's the point? A winter car? I see you have a 335xi, so...
If I chose to spend my money on more vehicles, I would want more variety, something more different from the M.

If you have the dough, do it. I think Audi's are beauties. But BMW is more fun to drive. Always. Period.

The RS-5 is awesome. I came from a S5 to the M3 for the performance of the S65. I was waiting for the RS-5 but since it didn't offer a manual I went back to the M3.
The M3 may edge out the perfromance more, but the RS5 is refined and beautiful. |

Wow the front looks very aggressive but that grille just looks too big...in an odd way.
Sounds like a fantastic car. No you're not crazy I say go for it.

If you're keeping the M3, IMHO you'd have more fun going for something that offered more of a difference in driving experience: Cayman or 911 of some sort, Corvette or muscle car, or even a Subaru BRZ. Drove the BRZ recently and honestly in some ways liked it more than my M3; it's way down on power (though that should be fixed with FI soon enough), but it felt so perfect in the turns that I just didn't care -- plus weighing A THOUSAND POUNDS LESS than the M3 helps. Could be turned into a very capable track car relatively cheaply, probably with a total cost less than a new RS5.
Anyway, better to have two different experiences in two different cars than two similar cars. That's my 0.02.

True and I completley agree with you but I had my share with muscle cars had 2 Camaros and a Corvette. I don't know why but I'm not into 2 seater anymore may be because I had the Vette at young age! I test drove 911S 2 weeks ago but for 112K No way!!!!!!!!.. I'm sold on the way the RS-5 looks however it will mean nothing if it doesn't drive as good as it looks...

OP... I do believe the M3 is the better car if you want a car that is balanced, capable and track ready. The RS5 is stunning to look at, sounds great and would be a fantastic year round street car with its AWD. Personally I would pick the M3 but there is something appealing about the RS5 for sure.

Do these have the same carbon build up issues like the RS4? Personally, not sure how I feel about RS5 and M3 combo. If it was me, I'd rather get a big sedan (think M5, S8, ect...) to compliment the nimble M3.

Hey man. Here's my opinion. I have has the M3(Titan M3, OSS Designs Buikd) I frigging loved her(yes, her.). I sold it only because I got an offer I couldn't refuse and had a kid, wanted something a little more sophisticated. Bought a 550i and built it again through OSS(Search for the M3 and OSS 550i Build). BMW is my favorite car, and I AM coming back to it.. However. The RS5 is utterly sexy. Drives extremely well, and has a presence about it unmatched by any current model bimmer. A tenth of a second here or two seconds on the track really doesn't mean anything to me. Unless you are the Stig, get the RS5, it's newer. More exclusive as they are only releasing 1300 of them, and is a very fun car to drive with much better technological features.
I got one and do not regret it one bit. That being said.. When the new M3 comes out OR when the M6 becomes more negotiable, I fully intend on making my return to BMW. Whether I keep the RS5 or not, I will decide at that time. Bottom line: get it. |
