Ready For Winter

Just got my new winter tires and wheels put on. The wheels are Miro Type 111 in Matte Black, 18x8.5 et-20 all around. The tires are Michelin PA3 Performance Winter's, 245-40-18 all around. I was hesitant with the square setup, but the option to rotate the tires was too good to pass up. I'm very happy with how everything came out.

There was also a lime rock orange M3 at the dealer. Thought I'd share

Looks good, I am shopping for something similar. How come you were hesitant to go with a square setup?

I like the black/white contrast.

You might find that wheel spacers on the rears will make the tire/wheel a bit more flush with the fenders. My setup uses 18x8 with et20 and 15mm spacers on the rear really help with appearance. Square setup actually works really well. It helps eliminate a little of the cars understeer.

Very nice...I just got my square set up with Bridgestone LM60...255-40-18...

Yeah, 245s and ET20 is begging for spacers. I have the same setup and just put 12mm on the rear which really improved the look, but 15 would be better.

I was hesitant with the square setup just for the reason that the rears wouldn't be flush with the fenders, but like everyone has said spacers will easily take care of that.

Yea I definitely think that some spacers on the rears would make a very noticeable difference. Something to look forward to for next winter.

I haven't had much time to drive on this setup, but I'm interested to see how differently it handles then the summer 19's. I'm sure the winter tires will sacrifice quite a bit of grip, but hopefully I can get an idea of what the square setup has to offer.

Yeah so, I'm running my spare OEM BBS 18's (staggered) with slightly narrower width on Dunlop Winter Sport 3D's...works really well in the cold, dry & wet, and moderate snow...winter ice can be tenuous as with any set-up. Very pleased with look and performance.

Running the same setup here and pleased with it.

So I'm curious. Are you guys in MN planning to drive this in the snow? I'm in IL and getting ready to pick up an E92 and not real sure how it will do or if I want to risk it. Just looking for anybody that has made it through snow and if the tires helped? I'm coming from an AWD STi so winter was never an issue. Thanks!

I'm just getting an M3 for the first time in a couple weeks, so I've never driven one the in snow. I've got an A4 Quattro now which has been great the past five winters. I expect the change to rear-wheel drive with snow tires will be a different experience, but from what I've read lots of people do it without issues.

I'm still trying to figure out which snow tire and wheel combination will work best for MN winters, which see some snow, but more often dry and very cold conditions - and wet slush later in the season. Too many choices...!

Why did you go this route? If you have another vehicle and dont want to drive your M3 in the bad weather then drive your beater. My beater is a 2009 X5. lol I am running that shit into the ground. lol

I just got the M3 late last spring so I haven't had the experience of driving it in cold/snowy conditions. I had an 06 330i for 4 years before the M3. I ran the 330 on the stock 17's with all season tires in the winter. The rear wheel drive for the most part handled well, but occasionally on icy roads or in deep snow it was pretty difficult. I have never had dedicated winter tires, so I'm hoping/heard that they make a big difference. I guess I'll find out soon enough.

No beater for me, Minnesota winters are usually just extremely cold with the occasional snow. I'm thinking the M3 will be able to handle the light snow pretty well. '09 X5 is a pretty nice beater though haha

from my experience... RWD on snows is better than AWD on regular tires.

Got them from **********s (http://www.**********s.com/Miro-111-Wheels-BMW.htm). They got the winter tires from tire rack and had them put on and balanced at their shop in California before sending them out to me. Great service would definitely recommend.
