For all that only USED Springs for your drop..
As the title says,
I am curious and have searched but did not come up with many results. How is your car holding up? What springs did you use? EDC or not? How are your shocks holding up? And How many miles does your car have and How many miles being lowered? Thank you All.

Got about 30k miles on my Eibach springs. I do have EDC. Over time, the ride has gotten harder but I'm thinking it has more to do with my tires wearing out than my EDC shock wearing out. I've never felt like I've bottomed out and I don't see any fluid leaking from the shock body. I will need to replace my tires soon since my Vreds have 28k miles on them and when I do I will know for sure if it was the tires or the something else.

Have about 35k on the Dinan springs with a bunch of trackdays and they still feel great. I have EDC and have had no issues. When the shocks go will be replacing with coilovers.

I'm also interested in this topic. In addition to OP's question, I'm just wondering how the car will last in the long run. I'm planning on getting H&R springs, can you feel a difference in the way the car rides? Is it firmer?
I don't have EDC

At 33k miles, I installed a set of KW sleeve overs because I wanted a lower ride while retaining the EDC. During the install, I noticed the front driver side shock was leaking.
After the install, the car never felt right. The leaky shock would bottom out pretty easily over any decent size bump. So I yanked out the sleeve overs and got a set of KW V3 coilovers instead.

You should have zero adverse effects with performance springs other than possibly needing to replace the stock shocks sooner.

Shocks are a wear and tear item. They wear out and you replace them. How long they last depends on the roads you drive them on and how you drive your car.
Any lowering spring will accelerate wear on the shock. The shock is always in a more compressed state with lowering springs than without so it wears it out faster than with the stock height. |

I'm only asking because some people have forked out money upfront for extended warranty/ maintenance. And sometime BMWNA are not the friendliest to work with; just so to exercise our extended plan...? Or will there be too much evidence that the suspension has been modified/ tempered with ? Ah, what the heck, It'll just be a reason to get some V3's but I really actually enjoy by EDC, which will force me to go DDC which is not reasonably justifiable...

Hypothetical question about OEM struts wearing out sooner with springs. Everyone says they'll wear out quicker because the shock will ride slightly lower than it was designed to do, how much faster is this wear going to take place?
I know there are many variables here. Road condition, loading, driving style, etc, etc. But if a stock shock were to last say 90,000miles, if someone went with a not-so aggressive drop. Say 10mm, are the EDC shocks going to last 50% life, 60% or what? |

Nobody knows because there aren't a lot of people that have put that kind of mileage on their car. I have 58k miles (about 30k with the Eibachs). Seems like they are fine for now. That's about all I can say for now. Can't predict the future. If you're looking for a definite answer, I don't think you're gonna get one on this subject.

So I pulled the H&R springs after about 2 weeks on the car and sold them. Went full coilovers. Horsepower Freaks did the install and I had to go back 2 times to get it exactly how I wanted it. I had springs on all my old cars. Have Eibach w e36 bumpstops on mine (non-EDC) and the car rides fine. I dont track so its a perfect street car. Nothing to complain about from me...love them

My personal opinion on the matter - on a car like the M3 just leave the suspension stock. Its already low enough from the factory imo where it doesnt look like you are driving a 4x4.
Also, nothing will ride as comfortably as the oem suspension. Ive lowered a few of my cars in the past and its always exciting at first and you think it feel much improved. But the ride quality decreases gradually over time. Its not until you swap the suspension back to stock or ride in an equivalent car that you realize "damn this is way more comfortable". |

Well, Im going in to MRF this weekend to get my eibachs installed with a milled shock/strut guide and E36 bumpstops. I will let you know how it feels after its installed. I have been driving my car for 38k+ miles stock so I have a good base for comparison. Im non edc non zcp.
