All I can tell you is, in 2020 in the USA, the gasoline engine will still be king. Of course the engines will become more efficient, and gas more expensive, and hybrids more prevalent. Whatever, for a young enthusiast wanting to experience the thrills of a racetrack, buying a legendary used car will still be the most appealing alternative. For these guys, all that matters is the budget to purchase and get the car track ready. Few of these old cars will continue as daily drivers. Most will be weekend toys, where no one cars about anything except the entertainment value. Why do you think the muscle cars from the 60s and 70s made such a huge comeback, despite huge inherent flaws: bad mileage, bad handling, bad build quality.

Honestly,
Have you guys seen a frozen color that is dirty or not under direct lighting, such as at night time? They look horrible. The only good frozen color in my opinion is black. Plus, M at BMW was always focused on "stuff" under the hood. Give me a lightweight, more HP, a real GTS and I pay. But, a paint job and contrast stitching at overpriced value is nothing to write home about. They are just trying to "milk" it, drop by drop (wrong approach BMW bean counters!). |

Give us a break BMWNA....anyone who pays up for this pretty car is a fool...I'm insulted that they have even offered these cars for sale.
I'm mean "com on man" put a BBK or something on these things to make them special...or maybe euro MDM or some other performance bone! REALLY DISAPPOINTING! |

Can't wait to see what the dealer markup will be on top the $16k premium, although I like the white and blue the "Frozen" editions are not even close to being worth the money.
Waiting for the M4.

your one word "rarity" isn't enough to make a collectible, sorry. if that was all that mattered, Pontiac Azteks would be collector's items. there's got to be something else that sparks the lust of a collector, enough to make him pay through the nose for a car and spark bidding wars. i understand your argument - you're saying that the frozen color is the other piece of the puzzle and that will make the car more desirable later on. i disagree - i believe this frozen/matte stuff is a fad and the car community will eventually move on. time will tell who's right. |

The Mayans predicted one day all ///M cars will only be available in a frozen color and Abraham Lincoln predicted special editions would be shiny, and only available on the Internet.

Please don't take offense. Colors are like wine, they are all good in the eye of the beholder. And that is all that really matters in the end. You live in CA, I am in NYC where dirt and overcast skies are predominant. I have seen my share of dirty mate colors. Plus I got to see the new "shiny mate" on cars that made it through regular car washes and poor paint maintenance. LOL. Good luck with your whip. .Mdrei Last edited by Mdrei; 11-01-2012 at 01:16 PM. |

No offense taken - it's all subjective. I just think you need to see Frozen Brilliant White in person before you make that statment about all frozen matte colors. This one has a lot of depth and sparkle for a satin finish.

I feel the frozen colors are the sexiest finishes available. It is so awesome that BMW NA allows you to special order them!

For those wondering what Frozen Red looks like...here ya go...the base color is not Melbourne Red like some of you may have thought...but base is actually Sakhir Orange!!!

I noticed the car had Akrapovic CF exhaust tips. I have never seen that mod installed by a dealer before in the States. |

more dealers are becoming mod friendly. i remember back in the day a dealer in arizona would slap on vorsteiner parts alot. now mckenna is the ultimate dealer for aftermarket parts

I figured as much. Still, I would think that a BMW dealer - even a European one, would upgrade the stock exhaust to the BMW performance exhaust rather than a 3rd party aftermarket supplier.
