Based on the feedback from this forum I went ahead with the PSS 255/35-19 and 275/35-19 recommendation for a stock competition package (ZCP). Happy to report it's a perfect upgrade. Looks and feels more natural for the car. Guess the pound or so per corner and ten bucks was worth it for BMW. Not for me. Highly recommended. Thanks all.

I replaced my balding 255/35-19f and 275/35-19r Michelin Pilot Sport 2s with 255/35 and 275/35 Pilot Super Sports over the weekend and love them. I really wanted to go with 285/30s in the rear, but those size won't be ready until next year if this thread is to be believed, so that'll have to wait.

FYI:

The wider rear is not needed with stock power.
You'll be fine as is!

After you do some driving, you'll appreciate the little bit of extra sidewall compliance that comes from the larger sizes F & R.

I think the PSS is a little more compliant than the PS2s in general as well.

I did a rim swap last week and really wanted 285's to be ready but not yet. Now my 255's & 275's look stretched on my 9.5/10.5's

Today I changed to winter tires on the M3 and on the F11.

I have standard sizes (ZCP) on the M3. Changed this year in April from PS2 to PSS. I drove 8000 km and have 7mm on the front tires and 6mm on the rears. Ok if you ask me, I am a spirited driver...

For the F11 (535i) the situation was not that perfect:
As for the M3 I got new tires in April also. Also PSS, 255/35/20 front and 285/30/20 rear. My wife drives this car normally and she drove 11000 km this year. The buddy from the garage told me I will need new tires on the F11 next year! "Are you serious?!?!?" was my first reply. So it seems that the PS2 have a better tire wear then the PSS. On my old E91 (330i) we drove the PS2 22000 km and still have 5 mm left...

The wear was perfect (3mm on the inside because of the camber, 4mm outside), so no problem with pressure etc. I do not know what I should think about that fact...any ideas?

The PSS will last longer than the PS2 if proper tire maintenance is followed. If you are seeing abnormal wear, check with Michelin Customer Service. In a staggered set-up they have a 15,000 mile warranty in accordance to their Michelin Promise Plan.

What is "proper maintenance of a tire" except correct geometry settings of the car and proper air pressure? Both are given in my case. The picture of wear is absolutely normal according to my tire guy.

Anyone know how the warranty works? Seems very vague.

1. Do we qualify since our cars didnt have PSS tires as OEM tires?
2. Do we need to show documented alignments, balances, etc? If so, how often?
3. Does it matter if we use non OEM sizes (ie. 265/285 f/r)?
4. If we use a square setup, do we qualify for the 30k warranty?

My local tire dealer knows nothing about this.

Mine are in my garage waiting to burn a few more 64ths off my Vreds. Will go on in the next few weeks. I look forward to trying them.

Subjectively, I'd rate the Sessantas equal or better than the pS2s, for less cost. Nice tires. I just want to try something different, or I'd go with a 3rd set.

Similar experience with the Vreds vs the PS2s. My only complaint with the Vreds is that they get really loud as they start to wear out. I never noticed such a dramatic increase in noise when the PS2s were wearing out. I think I got about 5k left on the Vreds but I'm thinking about replacing them already because the noise is starting to become unbearable.

I had them on my S4 and really liked them, but was never fully convinced that the perceived greatness of the tire was from the tire itself vs. the AWD of the S4.

How many miles are you guys getting out of them on your M's?

Sorry, but not in Germany. There is no such plan...but I will check this with the customer service anyway. Thank you.

Correct alignment, follow rotation intervals, and maintain air pressure. Since you say tread was worn properly, I would check with your local Michelin dealer.

1. Warranty states "replacement tire limited warranty", thus I believe the original tires when vehicle is purchased new do not fall under this warranty. I believe...

2. According to the warranty booklet, "May require that you provide the following: A completed Service Record form, and Original Owner/Tire Installation Information Form. For treadwear replacement claims, documents showing that your tires have been rotated and inspected every 6,000-8,000 miles or as specified by your vehicle manufacturer, whichever is lower, and the attached Mounting and Rotation Service Record has been fully completed and signed."

3. I don't see a mention of non-OEM sizes in the booklet, but I just quickly scanned it...

4. Square fitment will qualify you for a 30k warranty as long as a proper rotation schedule is followed.

One thing to note with the warranty is that documentation is KEY! Thus have a shop do your rotations and you get it documented.

Yup, enough to make me go back to stock sizes. I enjoy the handling and response with stock sizes more so than the popular 1+.

Dam - I was afraid of that. I will stick with the stock size then.

I contacted the Michelin customer service via Email and explained my problem. They will pickup the tires free of charge and check whats wrong. This indicates that 3mm after 11000 Kilometers is also not aceptable for them. I keep you updated...

Larger didn't feel good to me in terms of handling rather than torque. I much prefer the crisp response and recently
went back to stock sizes in RE-11's from 255/35/19F - 285/35/19R
