Cool Siri in BMW

Can you activate Siri directly from the steering wheel?

I have iPhone 4s and ios6

BMW's voice control is really bad - its frustrating to use it. On the other hand apple has done a great job with ios6 and Siri - she understands what you are saying 99% of the time.

If you are synced with Bluetooth and you hold the home button for Siri it works through the car audio.

You do have to handle the phone, however.

BMW is working on it, and it's not clear whether it will be available as a software update to existing cars or only available for new models. But yes, for the time being the best you can do is activate Siri by pressing the button on the actual phone, and then talk to Siri through the car.

+1. I do this all the time for sending voice texts while driving.

If you think that BMW's voice control is bad now, wait until Helga hears that you are chatting with Siri...
