You can find a detailer to do your regular maintenance washes. If you have the facilities, you can do it yourself with the right equipment and steps. Jet Black is a pain. Definitely avoid any commercial car wash!

I can see it being especially bad with Southern California sun baking in contaminants and the hard water etching the paint. Luckily San Francisco has soft tap water and the cooler weather makes it easier to take care of.

I find it extremely hard to believe then that your paint is swirl free after four years. My 2011 looked like it was 5 years old and it got paint correction done twice this year. Pics or it didn't happen!

granted, its not 100% swirl free, its like.... 85% swirl free.

maybe you just dont know how to avoid swirls? it is possible, you know.....
