eclipsisNA | Preview of Latest Orange Peel Correction
This is a brief preview of the complete wet sanding I've been inching closer to completing on my M3.
Be sure to pay attention to the textures around the black objects in the video: -Left hand panel (not wet sanded), there are wave-like distortions around the edges of black objects as the camera pansAlthough the wet sanding did not and cannot remove 100% of the orange peel texture, I'd guess that around 90% of the orange peel was removed. Also, make sure to watch in 720p or 1080p. Last edited by eclipsisNA; 10-16-2012 at 04:02 PM. |

Amazing work as always from you. Did this one go faster than your last car? Would be great to see some stills as well.

Thats quite the undertaking, would you mind sharing..how many stages of sanding and what grit paper you use..,
Do you do all by hand or switch up to a D/A when you get to a higher grit |

Really nice method with the reflection, sunset and dark bodies to show the net effect of the correction!
What cars that you have worked on come with this high quality of a clear coat though? Although I definitely notice and don't like my orange peel I'm not sure it is reasonable to expect this level of finish on an M3.

Phenomenal results in the last pic! Wow!
If you don't mind me asking, how much of the factory clear coat would you say gets removed in the wet sanding process, and do you put any clear coat over it when you're done to protect the paint and restore it like Opti coat or a similar product? Thanks in advance ![]()

I agree, it just means less correction you can safely do to the paint down the road.. Looks nice, just not very practical.
