Best Pulley
Are they all pretty much the same or does one stand out above the rest to be worth the money?
EDIT: This post has expanded quite a bit. Added updated pulley chart. Last edited by ussoldierforhire; 12-31-2012 at 06:17 AM.. |

To my understanding for the e9x M's the smallest, and therefore the most aggressive, is the Dinan. If that difference in size is significant in terms of performance, probably not much.

Must have been a low baseline, cool down period or something like that. A pulley isn't going to give you almost 20 whp consistently.
Keep in mind if you track your car the pulley will cause the car to run a bit hotter. So if you're tracking the car in 90+ ambient temps it's best not to get the pulley. I have the RD one on my car. |

^i hear the AA pulley is designed with intension to not allow the engine temps to increase..... I could be wrong, but that's what I have read.

I do have another question about the pulley kits.
Macht Schnell comes with two pulleys. http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...rdrive-pulleys Rogue Engineering looks like it comes with four. http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...-power-pulleys AA comes with 1. http://www.**********s.com/Active-Au...E90-E92-M3.htm Does more #'s of pulley's = more HP? |

I have an underdrive crank pulley (not from AA) and am not worried. On my E36M3, I used to run an underdrive water pump pulley, but changed to a stock size pulley since I have more than doubled engine horsepower and torque and thus dramatically increased thermal load on the engine. If my E90M3 with the usual NA mods was a track car, I might be concerned about its cooling ability under the rigors of sustained high rpm use on the track. |

1-pulley systems will have an effect on slowing down ALL accessories, but within safe levels both on the street and track. It's also cheaper to make, since it shares the same pulley as the S85 M5. The 2-pulley system on the Macht Schnell systems gives the benefit of added power (actually freed up power), without any sacrifice. There's a couple of reasons why this method is chosen: - BMW A/C clutch systems are designed to fully disengage at WOT, there is no need to underdrive that part of the system. IMHO, E9X AC systems are already weak in stock form, no need to further cripple it. - Macht Schnell replacement belts are standard off-the-shelf belts that can be purchased from any auto parts store if/when needed. If you've ever tried searching for a double-sided 6-rib belt at an auto parts store, you'll know what I mean. The MS pulley systems are priced comparatively with most 1-pulley systems, and a large number of them are used on the track. It's simply the best bang for the buck.
