Awesome! This worked like a charm. Don't be afraid to pull with force because that is what it needs... One of the most helpful posts. Thank You!

Awesome DIY! I just got the OEM black chrome grills/gills and following this I did all in 20 min! Your tape idea was perfect and worked like a charm. Thanks man!

Hey man thanks! You've saved my fender...

Placing a screwdriver between the gills and the fender, will damage the fender easily.

Change them in less than 5 minutes... Piece of cake with your method.

Things needed:
Tape 3M clear for boxes
Your 2 hands

THanks!

Man! Awesome DIY!!! Thanks!!!

I followed your instructions and kapow....all done with both sides in under 15 minutes....then I changed the grills, also under 15 with the other DIY here.

So easy. Cal from MS Sonic said the hardest part was just pulling and the sound it makes...he was so right. The tape method makes it very easy.

Yes this method rocks big time. BMW should include this method as instructions with a set if Gills.

Thanks for this. I just used both of your DIY's to do the side gills and grills.
Grills (which I did on my e92 335i) are still a bit of a pain in the ass, but the gills were pretty painless with this method.

An earlier reply in this thread said that Side Gill removal on the E90 is harder than the E92/93. Will the "tape" technique work on the E90? Has anyone tried it successfully?

Just to add, I successfully used this tape method to remove and replace my side gills on my E90. As some have stated, tape it, use one hand to pinch the gills as best as you can while you grab the tape and give it a pretty good solid tug (I know, I know). Reference your new gills for tab placement and reference points for squeezing.

After struggling for a bit to figure out how to get the gills off I came across this post -- it worked perfect! Thank you SOOOOO much for the DIY and videos. Exactly what I needed.
