well considering i had PS2 to start off with, i believe a step up in tires can be considered a mod... why you dont think so?? i mean, if i just took the PS2 off of my stock wheels and mount them on my TE's then i dont think its a mod, but buying new tires for my new wheels would be considered a mod no??
Tires are one of the most significant handling upgrades you can make

I think my high dollar mod will be ....

2 Day Driving Course at the BMW Performance Centre @ $3,500- next year, once I've done that who knows what else I might do

Read all about it (unless you seen it) by opening the link below my signature picture then go to post no. 55 on the last page ... Great write up by mdyaman

Rolf, so far I've accomplished this:
CF splitters
BMW Performance Alcantar performance wheels
RPI exhaust
Evolve Tuning
MS custom intake with Filter
RD springs
MS Spacers
//M gloves (worth about 10 Bhp)
On the list: BBS CH R wheels, and better performance pads.

Tint and reflectors are all for me, I'm not a modder. That said, unless you change sizes, tires are even less of a "mod" than these two minor items.

Nope wrong. Tires have huge impact on performance. How much quicker are you on the track with tint and reflectors?

Good one, though the chatter has been about going from PS2s to Contis or the other way around so in those instances I'd say the only "mod" that matters is the driver. I'll continue to use a separate set of sticky tires in 18 for track work of which I've logged one helluva lot over the last 9 or 10 years. Anyone using the same setup for road and track, well let's just say that's not for me. Bet your colored roundel is a real seconds shaver though

Pretty much stock right now but in time...

-ESS supercharger stage 2
-Coilovers (Variant 3)
-Full exhaust (Revinora or Miesterschaft)
-Revinora street lip
-Maybe a different trunk

AD08s are a pretty decent tire for dual duty. Fairly sticky. Unfortunatley I'm headed to the track today and its raining. The roundel is good for about 5whp, so not noticeable!

+1! AD08's are great as are PSS's. Obviously they won't beat a dedicated r-compound tire, but unless you are an expert these tires can be quite dangerous; tons of grip, more grip, and then none - without warning. So yeah, I think buying a good street/track tire will make a big difference.

Seams to me that the higher percentage of you fellows love to mod your cars if nothing else you do love to talk about it ...

I'm happy with what the ///M Division did with this car as it is ... other then the tint and floor mats I've done nothing so far and there are no plans for the future either.

Modding for me is just another costly extension to the car hobby in general. In fact, I started out fairly basic and over time gotten more extreme. I signed a new client and instead of researching for a new car, I'm looking at old used ones to mod them to the utter extreme, which in the end will be more costly than a brand new toy. Modding is a lifestyle.

Nice, be safe out there and have fun. I've never tried that rubber but have heard good things. That said, each year I seem to get a tick slower no matter the setup. next mod- rediscover the braveness I had in my 20s

LOL! I hear you! I can't turn off that nagging fear when I'm on the track. I guess once you have a family, and talk about cholesterol on a regular basis your edge is pretty much gone. Having f@cked up my Cayman didn't help either....

Does a tank of 100 octane count as a mod?

had a mostly wet day. was fun and always a learning experience that way. got one semi dry session at the end of the day which was sweet. i actually feel like i have more balls now. i am getting so comfortable with the dynamics of the car that i dont get that fear sensation like i initially did. 10th day this year not too bad.
