Our elevation ranges from 800-1300 feet depending on the part of town you are in.

Hopefully once the new home is complete, I can call Dinan and have them build me a stroker with schtick cams, upgraded valve springs and some tuning to match...... Lets see if they bite when I call them....... If Dinan don't want to tune it, I am sure ESS will do it for me! I would like to have an S65 with 475-500WHP All Motor!!!
If I don't get suckered into boosting my E90 M3 after many years, I ultimately want to build a monster S65 as well.

I was thinking 4.4L or 4.6L, Schrick Cams, port/polish head, bore out TBs, upgrade valve train, and rev to 9000RPM

Stage 4 package, but is under development...worth asking them though

I would love it if a car came to me with cams in an S65.

Given the massive gains on on the S85 w/ cams, I think that with tuning the S65 + Cams would be fantastic.

This kind of talk excites me. I would love to see this come to fruition.

It is just a matter of time for me, once the new house and garage are complete that is..... I am going with a 4.6 Dinan stroker, upgraded valve springs, gonna skip the throttle bodies since PG showed they did nothing for him even on the stroker, and, I don't think I wanna rev 9000 RPM, 8600 will probably be enough for me.

With the added stroke and the additional mass of the larger pistons, the forces involved in revving 9000 would be more than I want to put on my engine.

From what I remember, isn't it the Rod to Stroke ratio that's more important in higher revving applications, rather than piston weight?

Is the stroker kit's piston that much heavier?

Let me understand the logic here. Your spending $2500 for cams and at least $1500-2000 in labor, tuning and dyno time to get everything dialed in for 20-25whp at best. You can find a used ESS 535 kit for 5-6k and install yourself in less than 8 hours and gain 100whp. I might add ESS has had zero failures on all their kits! Need we discuss this any further....

Hehe, yeah, I definitely know what you mean. I was kind of being a bit humorous more so than realistic

Interesting, I must have missed PG's testing on the TBs. I wonder if that was a byproduct of the mechanical aspect of the TB or a tune not being able to take advantage of the bigger flow coming in....

I agree with you 100% though. The last thing any of us needs is a blown S65B40....or S65B46

Yeah, I know what you mean! I happen to be a huge NA nut...I just have fun extracting power in the most financially inefficient ways LOL. There is a small niche of us who like the purity and philosophy of pulling out power without boost and nitrous.

With my E46 M3, I spent enough in NA mods to easily buy a solid intercooled supercharger kit but really, thats just not something I was looking for. The thrill I get from hearing my high strung S54B32 is pure driving bliss. I guess once again, different strokes for different folks with different goals.

With that said, I want another E46 M3 so I can boost it for BIG power...

For the $/hp ratio you are absolutely right...just some of us don't like FI.

+1 ..ripping into an engine for 25HP just makes no sense considering the bolt on options available..

for those averse to FI..Dinan upgraded throttle bodies yeild nice numbers when coupled with tuning and free flow exhausts and a less invasive install.

I don't see why the S65 wouldn't benefit from cams?

If you are going FI...don't you really need different cams vs a stroker?

During my search for Schrick cams and E90/E92 M3 on google, I came across a few threads (2 I think) where Evolve and a Greek guy were talking about this. Evolve, if I remember correctly stated they saw more than 20-25 whp...i think upwards of 40whp, Do not quote me though but Im sure if I search a bit harder I can find those threads again.

EDIT: to above, the 40hp was a reference to the E46.

thread for S65 is here: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...hlight=schrick

25WHP...1SICKM you are correct.

Honestly, I have been eyeing cams since I got the car last year. Haven't pulled the trigger cause car is still under warranty.
