Input needed on tire brand and size selection

Alright guys, getting ready to rebuild my LM-R's and have run into tire size availability issues in the brands I want to run, so looking for some feedback

When I first started looking at tires a few months back, my top 2 choices were:

Michelin PSS
Toyo T1R

Alternative choices were:
Hankook V12
Nitto Invo

I've run PS2's in the past, and loved them, so figured the PSS would be similar/better. I've run T1R's and really like them for the money. I currently run V12's on my mercedes. I prefer the T1R's over them. I've have never run Invo's, but they're in the running simply because they offer the sizes I need.

Goal is to run a 285/25 on a 10" front and 305/25 on 11" rear. Car is lowered on KW V3's. Both these sizes were listed on michelin and toyo's websites a few months back.

The 305/25 has since been removed from Michelin's site. 285/25 available.
The 305/25 toyo is still available. The 285/25 is no longer produced, but is still on Toyo's site for some reason.

Get the picture now?

So basically, I now have to compromise on a set-up, and this is where I'm looking for some feedback.

Options if I stick with a 10"/11" rim:

- Nitto Invo in 285/25 and 305/25 (Don't know if these are good or bad tires, but they would be the correct [and my desired] sizes on these rim widths)
- Michelin PSS in 285/25 and 295/25 (This will make front sidewall a little bulged and rear sidewall a little stretched - funny looking?), and swap the rear to a 305 if Michelin starts making it in that size.

Options if I build front as a 9.5" and rear 11:

- Michelin PSS in 245/30 and 295/25 (so front has slight stretch to match rear). The 245 seems stretched on a 9.5" rim, but Michelins do tend to run a bit on the wide side so guessing it would look like a 255 Toyo, for example. Nevertheless, I still think it would make for a slight stretch on a 9.5" rim. Then, hope that Michelin makes 255/30 and 305/25 sizes in the future and swap out then
- Hankook V12's in 255/30 and 305/25 (which would be optimal sizes for the rim widths)

The other question Darwin@Sonic brought up to me should I decide to stick with a 10"/285 front set-up: My tire choices are severely limited as compared to running a 9.5" front. So if companies stop making a 285/25 front, I'm basically screwed. It's a very good point and something I hadn't considered previously.

Feedback and comments welcome. What would you do??

I'll be running 20's, so I don't have those width options.

245/295 on a 9.5"/11" rim

or

285/295 on a 10"/11" rim

I wouldn't wanna run something the same size width on a stock wheel if I'm upgrading wheels so the 245/295 option would be out for me.

I would go back to the original 9" and 10" BBS barrels that came with the wheels and run 255/30, 285/30. This is the very reason that I recommended you not switch the barrels when you posed the question in your original thread. Unfortunately you are very limited with tire sizing on 20" wheels...

Nitto Invo's and Hankook V12's are both downgrades from OEM tires. That's another issue with 20" wheels, not only are you limited in sizing, but also the quality of tires available in that sizing. In other words I would consider Nitto NT05's and Hankook RS3's but both of those are not available in 20". I admit that I'm anal when it comes to wheels / tires. I think that they need to be an upgrade if you are going to change them from stock.... Otherwise why do it?

Thanks but that's not really an option for me as I want to run a 295 or 305 rear and I would like to change the lip finish. Any comments on a 20" setup?

Michelin PSS - 285/25/20 front on 10", 325/25/20 on 11.5" See this thread for an example of a 325 working on the rear (on Pirelli p-zero nero which run narrow):

Yokohama Advan Sport - 265/30/20 - this will probably rub but it might be worth a try, 295/25 or 305/25 - 11" wheels
(Note that Yokohama's run wide so you will need to take that into consideration)

I had these tires when I ran 20's and they were OK but no where near the grip I've seen with Yokohamo AD08's or Michelin PSS:

Pirellli P-Zero Nero - 285/25/20, 305/25/20 (See above - this tire has been done in 325/25 but I don't think that size is available now).

Those are some agressive fitments! I've never run anything more than 265F/295R so I can't add any value there.

I've had all the tires you mentioned and can tell you without a doubt that you should pass on the Invos and V12s. The T1Rs are a great if you burn a lot of miles...otherwise stick with the PSS'.

I have a sickness for running aggressive fitments. I agree with the V12's. They're "alright". They're acceptable, but I certainly don't have as high of an opinion on them as many others. In that class of tire, I much prefer the T1R's.

Any experience with the P zero nero's?

Even if that's so, a 315 is sure to give you issues if a 305 already does.

Yeah I asked Darwin and he said it won't fit, ESP in a PSS variety. He has fit a Toyo 315 before, which run narrow, and he said it was tight. Looks like 305 will be my max width based on offset I want to run

245 PSS is too narrow for a 9.5" wheel IMO.

agreed. Darwin says I can't fit a PSS 285 up front with the offset I want to run. I think I'm going to try the P zero nero's in 285/305. Thx everyone for your help

The Nero's run narrow so you will have no problems with that size in the rear (depending on offset). I would guess the front would work as well. See this thread for pictures of my car with those tires on 20 x 11 rear wheels.
