Akrapovic Evolution Exhaust Smell

I am planning to get the Akrapovic X-pipe to go with my Akra slip on. I am concerned about the potential smell. For those with experience with the full Akrapovic Evolution exhaust... does it really stink? Do any of you with the full exhaust live near Sacramento? If so, can I go for a ride with you to experience it in person?

I don't think the full evo smells. Remember it still has the 200cpi cats

it does smell on morning start up... not strong but smell is there. since each pipe cat is 100cpi

Here is a good example:

My wife hated smell from my full Dinan setup. So I sold it and bought Akra slipon.
She was ok since it had no smell. Then I wasn't happy about power so I got an Evo mid pipe without telling my wife (since she ain't gonna say "go buy it honey, I love to see your M3 pulling harder").

I had it on my ride for about 3 months but she never noticed I changed mid pipe!
Smell wasn't bad at all in normal driving. But when I'm alone and driving really hard, I can barely smell from HFC.

Go for it. You're not gonna regret and you're not gonna get annoyed by smell either.

You don't smell it driving normally. In the morning you will, or if you back up. I smell it occasionally at other times, but it's nothing like my 7 series!

Good to hear theres no smell. Im in the same boat. Currently have the Akra slip-on only. However on Oct 15th an Akra x-pipe AND a VF 540 SC are getting installed

I've never ridden in a SC'd M3 so I have no idea what to expect but I've only heard good things..

There's definitely a smell. Anyone who says otherwise is just used to it, or has no nerves in their nose.

Edit: according to others they might have a 200 cell system but i haven't seen it in person. They also have a catless system too.

Something like the Fabspeed X-Pipe uses 200 cell cats, but the quality can not be compared to the Akra.

I read in another thread that supposedly Akra does make the 200 cell ones. Only problem with that is that you would need to get a new x-pipe from them.

Have had it for over 2 years now and my wife has never mentioned a thing and I've only noticed an odor while in the trunk, and yes, I bathe daily

They make 200CPI Cats, at least they did when I got my Akrapovic, I still went with the 100CPI anyway. Wether they are still available or not, I can't say. Best bet is to call IND!
