In response to some of the other rediculous and blatantly racist threads being posted I thought I would share this one.

Well I will say, it seems like these people know what they believe in, unlike the other video which was blind faith in a politician. They're definitely not educated or have enough teeth though.

If anyone does not know what is meant by "dog whistle" politics here is a blatant example of it.

Democrats are masters at it and employ it often just as you see here.

The intent of this video is to suggest that all or most Red State Voters are uneducated unemployed "rednecks" on public assistance.

Dog whistle politics attempts to be effective by suggesting and/or reinforcing negative stereotypes in the minds of viewers or listeners that are often racist and xenophobic.

Bravo to the OP. You've learned well. You must be proud of yourself.

I never said it was staged. Go back and read it again.

First off, while I admit there is a slight chance that your video was all staged by some malicious group, I really don't think it was, although I concede I cannot prove it either way.

I do think that is an unvarnished, accurate portait of those people as well, just like the first one was. I wont try and suggest to you that conservatives cant possibly be that bad, so it's an example of Dog Whistle politics or a big ruse.

The one thing that stood out in that video compared to the other one, is that people literally said they would rather starve, and uphold their convictions, than take handouts they dont believe in.

The tone of the other video was much more opportunistic, do this to get something for free. I almost got the impression that if someone else came along, and offered them even MORE free stuff, they'd switch alligiances pretty quick. Wheras the video you posted, money was not their motivating factor; they'd do without money before they'd betray their beliefs.

In both cases, they are acting in a way that is IMHO not in their own best interest, which of course is their right. The key difference is that one of those two groups is only bringing harm to themselves by acting that way, they are not costing anyone else money. You wanna shoot yourself in the foot, go right ahead. You wanna hit me with the crossfire when you do so, I got a problem with that.

YES! No matter who wins in November, it will be really hard to say that it will an example of a pure meritocracy; the cream rising to the top as a result of a considered, thoughtful analysis and comparison of both candidates.

On one side, you get people voting for Obama to reward him for implementing a free phone program that he didnt even do, and on the other you get people voting against Obama for being a Muslim, which he is not. In both cases, those votes shouldnt really count at all.

Winston Churchill even said "The best argument against democracy is a five minute conversation with the average voter", and I think he was right.

Personally, I think votes should be weighted to measure your knowledge of not only your candidates platform, but the others as well.
Answer a series of multiple choice questions about the various policy positions; where does party x stand on issue y. No partisan judgment or anything, just a measure of your grasp of what you are voting for, and against. Get all the questions right, so you are informed, and your vote carries a bigger weight than someone who gets them all wrong. Sadly, that'll never happen in a million years.

Go back and look at the above video again so you can understand that these folks are living on your tax dollars too and they believe they should. As the toothless gentleman said "I think I deserve food stamps I have no employment".

Ah yes, 1 guy did. I'm guessing he probably is not associated with all the others who said they would rather starve than take a handout. Too bad, peer pressure might encourage him to engage in a bit of self-reliance if he was.

While I'm not thrilled that he was doing that, at least he didnt say anything about Uncle Sam owing him a phone, as well. Perhaps there is more hope for him, after all, if he ever decides to try and become an economic contributor: he'll have to wean himself off 1 less dependency.

Al's Rules for a sustainable, healthy society:
1.Try and be a net economic contributor; give more than you take.
2.If you cant contribute to the pot, the next best thing is to try and not consume from it either.
3.If you cant manage that, at least try and consume less, rather than more.
4.If you cant even manage #3 either, then for pete's sake, at least refrain from encouraging others to shuffle up to the trough also (vote for Obama to get a free phone)
