Mobility kit success story!

I was driving to a place about an hour away. Halfway there, TPMS says low pressure in a tire. So I pull over on the highway and check, yup, pressure is 23psi and I can hear a slow leak. So I get out the M Mobility Kit, thinking it'll be a snap but... nah. I had to read the directions a couple times to ensure I did everything properly, and connecting all the hoses properly+tightly enough was annoying.
But I got it done while following the instructions in my manual to a T. And the tire pressure stayed the same my entire 30+minute trip home, while adhering to the 50mph max speed. Tomorrow I'm going to get the flat repaired and it all looks good.

I just did a search on this forum for info on the M mobility kit and found a lot of complaints so I wanted to let people know that as long as you have a normal, non-huge leak, it definitely works just fine.

However, I have a few questions: I definitely need to replace the tire sealant, correct? And get my tire fixed at a tire place.....
But the air compressor that plugs into the car--that never needs to be replaced, right? Just the sealant bottle.

mentioned; should I be buying something from them instead of replacing my tire sealant? What product of theirs is best to temp-fix a leak: http://www.stopngo.com/categories/Tire-Pluggers/ given that I have the M Mobility air compressor already, but now no sealant?

Thanks, and I think BMW's system is just fine, sooooo much better than dealing with runflats all year round and more convenient+lighter than a space-saver spare.

Yes, you need more sealant and need to get the tire fixed. The air compressor is good, nothing to replace on that.

BE SURE to tell the person fixing your tire that you used fix-a-flat. Some places will check the tire and think nothing is wrong since the mobility kit temporarily stopped the leak.

The mobility kit is the same thing as a can of fix-a-flat. Except the can is cheaper and easier to use.

also might want to replace ur TPMS as well..the gunk can fuck it up sometimes

Yeah, the place that replaced my tire (big chunk of steel in tire was the problem, too big to patch) mentioned that.... which makes it kinda silly that BMW gives us this. Using their own given product will damage the car? And I'm guessing a dealer won't cover TPMS replacement since my car's out of warranty, right?

Any safe way of knowing if it's broken?

yes, fix the tire and see if it resets. I don't replace much of anything that isn't broken. You can buy the canister of goo for the mobility kit for about $40? or just get a can of fix a flat and top off the low tire with the compressor...

Or you can hit the sensor with a hammer a couple of times. Then you'll know its broken.

It got some splatter in my wheel well housing, but the tire replacement guys cleaned it for me

You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."
