6MT Clutch Life

How many of you have replaced your clutch and at what mileage? Just curious as I just hit 50k and will be increasing power output shortly. Thanks.

I did search and there's just lots of questions, not many answers. But thanks for being a smart ass and adding nothing to my question.

Ouch...

Be nice to Sean. He is more helpful than you know.

But to answer your question, it depends on your driving style. Some have made it to 75,000 miles plus with no issues. And one person with ~73,000 miles with 15,000 or so supercharged used the stock clutch.

The stock clutch can handle power upgrades per ESS. Guys are running 600 Hp on the stock clutch without slipping.

So if your clutch feels ok, you should be fine. Worse case, if your clutch goes, replace it with the stock clutch and you should be fine. The clutch isn't overly expensive.

That seems to be what I've found, too, and I know its all dependent on driving style, just curious if there was a "general consensus."
Wasn't trying to be "mean" to Sean, just didn't see the point of taking the time to post something that wasnt helpful. Thank you for your response.

Hopefully the stock E92 M3 clutch will last a while and hold up like the E46 M3. I have 103,000 miles on my E46 M3 with the original clutch, 60,000 miles of that are boosted with an AA kit. No slipping yet.

I replaced mine at 50K just cause the tranny was out of the car.also upgraded the flywheel cause the 08 models have a faulty design flywheel that was redesigned in 09 .

What was faulty about the flywheel? Thinking I may go ahead and be proactive. Def dont want anything self-destructing.

Clutch should last you to 60K minimum.. I would say it's not unreasonable to get 100K + out of it.

My car has about 44K and feels new. I don't do a lot of launching though and rarely slip it.

don't listen to these guys saying it should last 60K!! A properly driven manual (any car) the clutch should last 100k EASY!! Any less and it's driver error IMO

Good response.... I've asked this question several times and searched also with no luck... I hate it when people just cant answer questions to help people out if they know the answer.... I just hit 55k on mine and so far no issues. But def looking for an answer as well...

I miss shifted once, and clutch took the hit.. had to replace. Problem is that there is not much aftermarket. Ginken, but it's pricey and race clutch. Spec, stopped making them for m3.

09 models has different flywheels than 08 models.
If you buy a new clutch, it won't bolt up to your old flywheel cause its a different design. What's the solution?
A new flywheel !
You can't even get an 08 clutch since its pulled out.

Sean has something like 75K on his and it doesn't sound like he has replaced it yet. I've got 53K on mine and it seems fine. I think it should be good for 100K minimum.

I think the reason you don't get a lot of solid answers is that vitrually no one has replaced the clutch do to normal wear.

I have to agree with this. I've owned many makes and models and have always gone beyond 100k miles before clutch replacement.

I'm just shy of 64K miles, and my clutch still feels fine. I can feel where it's been used a bit from the previous owner and myself, but it's nothing that would make me want to replace it before 75 or 80K miles, honestly. I think a non-abused clutch will last you 100K miles easily.

The m3 clutch is pretty durable..If you drive this clutch reasonably there is no reason why I cant see geting a 100K out of it..

clutch life is directly related to driving style

Not faulty, just superseded in 2009 with a slightly larger clutch/flywheel assembly.

Problem is, both clutch/flywheel need to be changed on MY08s come replacement time since the early parts are no longer available.

The stock clutches are pretty decent, even on boosted applications.
