ticking noise from brakes...?

hey guys quick question, how normal is it to have that ticking/crackling noise from the brakes after you drive hard and stop/turn off the car. last couple days after a good hard drive ive noticed those noises when i turned off the enige and stepped outside the car. not sure if its from the brake components but iam pretty sure thats what it is. It makes sense for it to be that, and to some extent normal.. let me know

If its the brakes, then you would be able to smell them, and they smell bad.

But the sound you described, is a typical sound that is made by catalytic converters.

i have the same tick - hasn't been a problem yet. I also have sizzle sounds when I turn off the car after a hard drive with the A/C on. I'm assuming it's condensation dripping onto hot exhaust parts....

The car makes all sorts of interesting noises!

Completely normal. And, it will lessen as you heat cycle them more. Of course, that means you are that much closer to needing brakes, but so what?

Mine do this pretty much every time that I drive the car.. I think it's just the brakes cooling/contracting. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Normal, and if you drive the car hard you will notice the ticking is louder

^^Totally normal!! Did you see this video of Albert Biermann talking about the new M5 brakes... it was on the front page a few days ago. The M5 brakes make the same noises. The noise comes from the different metal expansion rates. Alloy hub vs steel rotor and the oins used to connect the two different metals together.

Totally normal, it is more evident and louder the harder you drive.

When cooling, the contracting disc slides against the floating pins causing the clinking sound.

Especially the OEM brakes. Never really noticed it on my BBK too much but after the switch back for VIR found them to be popping and ticking for quite a bit of time, but seriously, walk the paddock after a session and it sounds like a poor mans orchestra out there
